Blog to Lose

No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!

I have just started enjoying tea lately. My roommate drinks it all the time, and has inspired me to start drinking it. I must say I am still experimenting with different flavors, and am far from an expert on it. I think that it may be a good replacement for my normal crystal light, which is NOT good for me but so easy to drink. Any favorite teas out there, or any ideas for different ways to drink it besides just plain hot or cold? For some reason drinking tea makes me feel healthier...I know I am wierd! There is just something about lighting candles in the house, drinking hot tea, and dimmed lights while doing whatever around the house that is very relaxing!

I'm really getting into teas too!

My mom got me some pomegranate tea for Christmas and I'm LOVING it! Also brew your favs and use to make oatmeal or mix with chocolate syrup. :)

I go in spurts where I drink a lot of tea, usuall decaf green tea, and then I don't...I switch back to coffee...back and forth all the time..I really like one called Lemon Lift also...but that has the caffeine. I actually like Roni's idea to use that hot tea to mix oatmeal then. Or even hot chocolate...That might be tasty......

I also love tea. I do drink my coffee in the morning but I drink a lot of tea after that. At Costco I get a box of Japanese Green Tea that is yummy and then I also like Chai. I buy the Tazo chai and then add skim or soy milk and sweetener. I am looking forward to trying Roni's idea of mixing it with oatmeal. We have a tea company close called Montana Tea and Spice and they have some terrific teas. So I do get some teas there. Then in the evening we also drink Sweet Dreams by Celestial Seasonings. It seems to signify the end of the day. I am trying to get into the mode of when I make the evening tea, the kitchen is closed.

Your just reminded me of the London Fogs I use to get at Starbucks. It is skim milk steamed and earl gray tea tea in that. I might have to have that today!!!! Thanks!! And Tazo tea of any sort are great!

I LOVE tea! I only drink caffeine free or white tea. White tea has the least caffeine, but is packed with antioxidants. I would suggest giving it a try, but don't skimp on the price and make sure that you follow the brewing directions exactly otherwise the tea will be very bitter. Red teas are also really wonderful. They require less attention and can be flavored very well. I'm a big herbal tea fan. Mint tea is especially good if your stomach is upset and echinacea tea helps boost your immune system! If you're a caffeine nut, I'm not sure what to drink. People seem to be crazy about chai and green tea is packed with antioxidants, too! Getting tea at the grocery store is a-ok, but if you can find a place where you can buy loose tea, that's the way to go. You'll get to smell it and maybe even try a little before you buy! Either put them in tea bags yourself or you can get a little metal steeping ball. I even found a thermos with a steeping insert so that I can travel with loose tea! It's awesome! Have fun trying new teas!!

I drink black tea all day long--mostly Darjeeling, English Breakfast or a blend called Russian Sweet that I buy from a local company called Mrs. Kelly's Tea (they have a website you can order from, too).

A lot of the time with dinner I'll drink Jasmine Green tea from Trader Joe's.

But my real addiction is a rooibos tea from Celestial Seasonings called Red Safari Spice. For me, it's just the right balance of sweet and spicy (think cloves, cinnamon and ginger), and rooibos has no caffiene. My grocery store stopped carrying it so I've started buying it, literally by the CASE, from Amazon.

p.s. If you're doing loose tea, a brew basket is the best, because it allows the leaves to expand as they steep. I do about half loose and half bag tea. It's all good as far as I'm concerned!

Just tried Roni's idea for making oatmeal with tea...I used decaf green tes, two bags, about 3/4 c hot water...and mixed up instant high fiber quaker oatmeal...it was REALLY GOOD!!!...I'm thinking of all sorts of combos for it now as I make my grocery list for the weekend!!

Thanks for the great ideas.I am new to these boards. What a great motivational tool. Thanks to Roni for starting it. She is an inspiration to us all. Here is my tip for getting in the water.......there is a canned carbonated water I found in a case at Ralphs & at the big "K". It is called "La Croix." It has no caffeine, no calories, no sodium and no artifical flavor. I take about two cans and add a little lemon crystal light, for a very nice citrusy flavor. It goes down easy.

I love green tea. When I was pregnant and wanting baby to arrive I drank raspberry leaf tea. So yummy. :)
