No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!

Thought I'd start a discussion about your first week of school. How did it go? What were the pros and cons? What are you really looking forward to this year?

Mine went really well. I was totally not motivated because I wanted my kids from last year back. My first period class ended up being awesome and totally got me excited about a new year. It was nice breaking in easy because we started on a Thursday. This week will be the true race!

Mine doesn't start until Aug 25. My first week of training was okay though. I managed to pack my lunch each day and managed to get to sleep by 12 most nights.

My week went great! We started with a half day on Tuesday and went full days the rest of the week. Overall, things went well.

My pros: kids are great, I get an advanced class at the end of the day which helps keep me motivated, I am better planned this year, we are in teams, and I am incorporating a lot of movement in my class to keep my students from sitting too long. All of the pros are contributing to a fantastic start!

Not too many cons..... they've tightened up on copies making it difficult to get last minute copies, and my legs were killing me last week. Other than that, everything else is positive.

We have to turn in our copies two days in advance. It's nice not to have to make them ourselves, but it's frustrating that you can't make copies if you decide to do something last minute.

My feet have really been hurting too. We'll get used to it.

The kids don't start until next week for us. We have in-service all this week and then kids starting next Tuesday. I'm anxious to see what this year will bring. I've heard really good things about this group of kids. I hope I'm not disappointed.

My kids have been very well behaved. They must be planning something!

My first two days went fairly well. I can't say they were awesome, but I can't say they were awful either. I have two difficult classes and the rest are wonderful. My honors class freaked me out the first day because they were so completely silent the whole time!

I'm sure they'll open up. A lot of times the smart kids are the most talkative, but you have to give them some time.
