Emily-
Good to hear from you - it is exponentially harder with # 2 I thought... But you will work it all out. I admit I am still terrified at the idea of 3 - especially since my 2 year old is the epitome of a terrible 2 - very needy, clingy and crying all the time. Great job on your weight... keep it up and make sure you find that "you" time.

Hi Ladies! Just thought I'd check in here a bit. Lilly is 6 weeks old today! I really don't know where the time goes. I return to work this coming Monday and I'm wrecked about it. I was ok with returning after I had my 1st daughter, but this time I'm not ready at all. I've got 9-10 lbs to lose to get back to my pre-pg weight...and considering this post-delivery happened at the holidays, I'd consider that a major victory. I'm having a major issue finding time to exercise- during the day- as soon as I try to jump on the treadmill or pop in a video- the baby wakes and nighttime is near impossible. I know it will even out eventually, but I'm seriously overwhelmed with how different it is to bring a 2nd little person into this house- those of you who are already mom's of more than 1- please remind me that this does get easier and I'll find the balance! I'm also struggling with my 3 yr old "baby" going to preschool starting on Monday....it goes SO fast.

Welcome Sarah and congrats! Try to enjoy every minute (even the annoying last few weeks where all you want is your baby!)- it goes so very fast!

As for the Flintstone's vitamins discussion- there is a lot of varying information out there on the net- but when I was having trouble keeping mine down at first- it was because of the iron in the prenatal. My OB said to take 1 flintstone vitamin daily at night, plus a bowl of Total cereal (to get the rest of the Iron I needed) for breakfast and then folic acid supplements (over the counter). I just did that until the nausea subsided then took OTC prenatals. Taking 2 flintstone vits could have too much of some other vitamins...but I think you'd have to also be overloading that vitamin in your daily diet to really do any harm.

Hope you're all doing well- can't believe we've got like 3 more of you due here very soon! Can't wait to hear the stories and see pictures!

Lauren- if you're out there- hope things are going well!

Sarah,
Does your doctor do an early ultrasound? All mine have and it is such a relief to be able to see the baby at your first visit. Helps with the anxiety. With my first I actually don't think my back pain started quite that early- mine is very lower back across the tailbone area and the first time I think it started after I was starting to show when all the ligaments were getting stretched. It has hit earlier each time though(I am on #3). Doesn't seem related to exercise at all, days I go to the gym it may not bother me at all and days I do nothing I can hardly move. Hopefully yours isn't pregnancy related and will abate soon!

Enjoy having the bigger boobs now - they are less impressive when they go along with the big everywhere in a couple months :).

Thanks Francie! I have been over paranoid and need to stop and let it all the negative go, the more I read the more I worry! I don't go for a month either so I am just anxious! I feel good besides the backpain and making myself nervous. Have you had back pain from the beginning? My boobs are starting to get sore, such a relief to get home from work and change clothes!

Welcome, Sarah! And Congratulations. Not much you can't do - just go about your life and watch how much you read, it can be informative and can also make you needlessly paranoid! I remember bein totally paranoid when I found out about my first.. The doctors didn't want to see me for a month and I was like BUT WHAT WILL I DO UNTIL THEN! I recommend staying active if you are feeling up to it - you can keep up your workout regime but not start anything radically new and now at 27 weeks I am still working out about 4-5 times a week and jogging and am grateful that I kept it up.

Prenatal vitamins can be pretty pricey, I am just taking an over the counter prenatal, and a fish oil supplement for DHA - my doc wants me to get at least 300mg of DHA I think... Does that sound right everyone else?? The fish oil can be kind of big and burpy, I have pills (try them in the freezer - works much better for me) but also a lemon flavored oil that I sometimes mix into my yogurt, milk or whatever that tastes much better.

So sorry you are in my club with the lower back pain - wish I could say it will get better but it plagues me til I give birth... My sister in law (a doctor) just told me that thermacare wraps are safe but I haven't tried that yet- did bust out my old heating pad though.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas :)

I can't believe I am in this group now! I will be 6 wks on Tuesday so it's very early! This is my first, we are excited and very nervous. Reading the books makes me nervous during this first trimester and want to be careful. Just curious, do you continue living your daily life of cleaning, cooking, taking down Christmas, etc?!! The only symptoms I am having is indigestion and lower back pain. I am due Aug 25th. My doctor prescribed me prenexa prenatal vitamins, anything else I need to add? Just looking for tons of advice to get through this 1st trimester!

Sam is due the same time we are, and I think we are next up! Officially 34 weeks tomorrow... hard to believe that we could be finished in less than a month.

Jason and I drove 10 hours to his mom's in Kentucky on Saturday then another 9 hours to my mom's in Virginia on Monday. I'm very swollen and ouchy! Plus, I have been eating way too much and with 20 inches of snow on the ground, any sort of walking is out of the question. I'll be so glad to get home next week.

My mom is the greatest. She came over and helped me organize the disaster area into a nursery! Yay, Mom! It actually looks like a room for a baby now. I still need to register because they'll start throwing me showers in just over a month. Crazy that I'm only a few days away from the third trimester. I can't believe how fast this whole thing goes.

Other than that, things are going well for me. I just got over a head cold and although annoying, due to pregnancy I was used to blowing my nose 100 times a day anyway. I also fell on the ice yesterday and my right arm/elbow and left leg took the brunt of the fall (ouch!). I think I affected some abdomen muscles (just a little), but my stomach did not hit the ground (and she has been moving just as much as usual). So, I'm thankful that it was not worse.

I hope everyone has an excellent Christmas!

Merry Christmas Eve, everyone.. How is everyone doing? Things here are good - all are healthy and happy here and the shopping is done (but not the wrapping) No family around for me this year but we'll be visiting my husbands family tomorrow- It will be different but nice to have a quiet night as a family...

Had a couple of slow lazy weeks where I only made it to the gym a couple times(even excluding the stomach flu where I had an excuse) but am back on track - been to the gym every day this week and my running miles are actually creeping back up(along with my weight - 24 pounds in not quite 27 weeks...yuck). I now have NO motivation to run outside in the cold however and am doing all my miles in the cardio cinema at the gym.

So I usually set the incline on my treadmill to 1.0 because I read that that more accurately mimics a real run, but yesterday I was working pretty hard and decided to go back to zero - figuring I earned that one little concession - but the treadmill wouldn't lower ! The nerve (lol). The other alternative was to slow down but I am hanging onto my 3 miles at 6 miles/hour with both hands. The day is coming when I won't be able to do it (coming fast, sadly) but I was victorious yesterday...

I'll be 26 weeks Sunday Jennie Rose, I've sort of dragged out and gotten behind a week or so on appointments so I have to come in during my 28th week for the glucose tolerance test, then every 2 weeks from there...

Feeling better today - think I am on the mend... Kept my soup down last night and a yogurt for breakfast. May even make it to the gym tonight.
