I really thought Christmas would be horrible without my husband. It wasn't too bad. I didn't have expectations that it would be great so I think that helped. My sister is here so I know that helped. I talked to Dave yesterday and he seemes really bummed. Then, I felt guilty for not being very sad at all. Don't get me wrong, there was a huge hole in my day. He was certainly missed. A lot.... I cannot wait to see him! (21 days!!!) The good news, I've lost 7 pounds since he left in September. Not too much but not too little either!

Your welcome, My husband has been gone this last week and I have gotten a preview of what i get to deal with when he leaves for his deployment. Needless to say I will probably go crazy.

USMCwifeca,Thanks for the decipline idea. My 6 yr. old is really had a difficult time this last deployment. His famous last words are always, "I'll be better when my dad gets home." He knows how to work me and he knows he has me on that one. I don't know how many times I have threatened to call The Nanny!!!

I did get a pleasent suprise from my boys tonight. At dinner everyone ate green beans and no one made a peep about it!!! That is a first at our house! I will not only raise them to be good husbands and daddys but also healthy eaters! I put a ban on chicken nuggets this week because they would eat them everynight if I let them. We'll see how long it last.

As far as food goes I know I can make them what they want mac and cheese nuggets ect. But I don't want to get in bad habits while dad is gone since my husband really wants them to eat healthy.

I have two boys too my oldest is six. As far as discipline I think it depends on the type of child you have. I our house we have cards Green is good yellow is a warning orange is 2nd warning and time out and red is a loss of a privilidge. When he stays on green all day he earns stickers towards his allowance at the end of the week. He loves rules and structure so this works great for him. But I know some kids would just laugh and not care just depends.

I use a lot of lower fat versions of favorites, like Jackie. If the kids want Ramen, I eat ramen. (I just but the low fat choice ramen). My problem is that I need comfort food right now. I actually have a Snickers bar at my elbow right now because I got the dreaded your-kid-is-being-naughty-at-school call and my boys have been making me CRAZY!
Any good ideas for kid discipline? He's 7 and has been acting up in school and at home. I can't cancel Christmas as much as I think that's what he needs. ARGH... I am open to any suggestions.

Hmm with kids it's more tricky (I don't have any myself but I babysat a lot in college). When I babysat I use to make lower fat (little to no butter, lowfat milk) mac n' cheese w/Turkey Dogs and they were delicious, even the kids liked them. Or I'd bake them frozen chicken nuggets and have a few of those and eat a big salad along with it. I always ate what they did in small portions and always with a big salad (no salad dressing just olive oil & vinegar). I have also recently discovered "Very Vanilla" Soymilk and it is DELICIOUS, I blend it with berries or a banana and I swear it tastes better than a milkshake.

But I must say it's a lot easier to eat better when the hubby is gone, I gained a good 15 pounds when we were in Germany together because we loved cooking together and eating out in Europe. Ahh memories!
