I have to get on my s.o. to get back to doing this but it helps me to keep healthier [and yummy] alternatives stocked up. Oh, and the bad things in a cabinet that is never used for other things (out of sight, out of mind mentality). If the kids get cookies, I make sure I have some oreo 100 cal packs. Ice cream: skinny cows. Potato chips: "good" crackers and laughing cow cheese.
My husband really likes desserts (as do I). To keep us happy, I try out new, healthy versions of desserts. He likes the variety and doesn't feel like he is suffering. Also, I serve vegetables alongside dinner even when I know it's not everyone's favorite. If it has been made and is sitting on your plate, you are more likely to eat some of the vegetable. Making if available says a lot to the family.
