OK. If I'm going to try to cut back on the sugar, I'll have to start enjoying fruit more. Anyone have any great ideas on how to turn fruit into a yummy dessert?
I love to have mixed berries topped with low-fat, sugar-free yogurt and a few tablespoons of Kashi Go Lean Crunch or other granola. It's a really *large* dessert for very few calories. If you want to get all fancy-schmancy, you can make them into parfaits and layer them in a pretty glass :).
I also like to make smoothies for dessert with fruit, yogurt, and skim milk. You can add extracts, splenda, and even cocoa powder for variety.
I'm currently surfing and looking for recipes for a berry or apple crisp that is made with minimal sugar and whole wheat flour and oats. Maybe one with rhubarb would be good too.
I'm also thinking about a low-sugar banana's foster, but I'm not certain that one exists.
there's a recipe in here for pineapple bluberry dump cake its very good, you can change the fruits up to any combo you like peaches strawberries and blueberries you can change the cake to white cake too....... endless possibilities, theres always fruit and ff cool whip.
I like to cut up fresh strawberries and mix them with rasberries, blackberries, and blueberries. Add a little splenda to taste and it makes a nice syrup. You can eat it as is or with some Cool Whip free or over some angel food cake for a mixed berry shortcake. It's simple, but very yummy and decadent-tasting.
