clean eating info and meal ideas

In case anyone else is interested, I found a nice downloadable menu of "clean" foods. I have noticed a pattern with a lot of our succesful losers here on BTL. A lot of them practice eating alot of whole foods, or clean eating. I came across this magazine website with a free downloadable 7 day mealplan and thought I would share. Enjoy!

stress eating and exercise

The last few days I have sort of fallen off the wagon so to speak. When my husband and I went out on Tuesday night, I went a little nuts and had some fatty appetizers and ate myself to the point of feeling sick. I tried to track the points but it is so high I sort of gave up. Then my bikini arrived via UPS. I tried it on and like the way it looks but my stomach area has this pooch above my belly button, from pregnancy, that really pokes out and I want to get rid of it. I started thinking how we… Continue

Going hardcore for the next 3 days until WI

We had a BBQ last night with my in-laws and I had a real burger :) It was so good! And tasty! But I am now out of flex for the week and I used almost all of my 17 AP's earned. Today my calves are really tight from my step class yesterday so I am not sure if a workout is in my future. I might be able to get some elliptical in later if I can escape from the house for a bit. Today's meals are planned, now the difficult part: actually sticking to the plan! LOL We are going out tonight, and I am goin… Continue

some random foods I'm eating...awesome day so far

Today has been a GREAT day so far. My husband is finally off work after working too many days in a row, and I got to do some fun stuff today :) I did a step aerobics class this morning which felt amazing. I have noticed now that I am at a healthy weight, exercise is not nearly as strenuous as it used to be. I can run longer without getting exhausted, and the aerobics class made me tired but I kept on going. I know it sounds cheesy, but I literally feel lighter on my feet than I used to. It is a… Continue

great day yesterday, meal plan for today

Yesterday was so much fun, I got to go to the mall and try on clothes with my sister- one of my very favorite things to do :) She is such a fun girl to hang out with. I ended up getting two tops and a cute black vest to wear over a white tank top as a "girls night out" type of outfit. I love it, and Macy's has a huge sale so I got them all for $5 or less.

I did really well with my eating yesterday, I ended up realizing how much I like to snack and it makes me kind of laugh because I look back a… Continue

Alison..thank you for the beautiful words! You are so sweet and very encouraging! I also look up to you and what YOU have accomplished! Good luck with Phase 1. I did it too and lost my last five pounds. Then...I transitioned into clean eating which is very similiar to phase 2 and 3. South Beach was the only thing that could get those last five off and now Im maintaining. It was hard at first but I adjusted. Have a fun trip and enjoy yourself. Pack a small cooler for yourself with healthy foods so its always available...that really helps!

Yes, I now eat all my ap's and all my flex. My daily target is supposed to be 19 points a day, but I've been staying at 20 the past few days. So the 25-27 points is just an average, some days are higher some are lower. I do feel satisfied at that range though. How often do I eat bread? Well I can't remember the last time I ate a piece of bread. I just don't find sandwiches filling enough to be worth the points. But I do eat whole wheat english muffins pretty often. I do usually try to stick to filling foods, like I generally avoid crackers/chips or those 100cal packs and stuff. But to a certain extent, I also eat what I want pretty often (i.e. donuts and taco bell) and just count points for it. So I guess it's a mix of both!

Hey. It may seem like a good amount but it doesn't feel like it with the last few weeks being 1.5 or less, mostly 1lb or less. I started out with big numbers and I think that is why the average is so high. Maybe I am too hard on myself and should give myself more credit. I just think its crazy I hired a personal trainer and have only lost 18lbs, just to me I feel like I should be losing more. Then again...I have to eat good too, duh me!

Thanks for your comments! The suit is actually a tankini, I like it because the top is long enough that it covers my stomach. I either got it at Sears or JC Penney, I can't remember. As for the 20 point meal plan... I'm having a hard time finding one to post because I NEVER eat only 20 points! Like literally never... I looked back on my food journal and I only had one day where I was under 22 points this past month! It ended up being a 19 point day because I forgot to eat my piece of fruit that night, which is funny because I don't think I've ever forgotten to eat before. Here is what I ate that day: oatmeal with pb- 4 points, grapes- 1 point, taco bell- 6 points, cantaloupe- 1 point, chicken with mixed veggies and parmesan cheese- 4 points, 1/2 a small baked potato- 1 point, asparagus- 0 points, popcorn- 2 points. In my opinion 20 points a day is just not enough food for anyone, so I try not to be that low very often if I can help it. I find that after I have several lower point days in a row (like 22-24 points) I become so ravenous by the third day I just go crazy! I hope that helps though!

Thank you so much Alison, how sweet that you asked your sister. Your right, him getting nutrition has been a huge issue and will continue to be. I bought him some Ensure today, as I heard about someone else with Crohn's doing that. I also know there are injections you can get (like B12) but not sure if insurance covers that. Thanks again for your support!

Thanks, I think they are cute too :) I appreciate your support. I know that I am too hard on myself, always have been. Like people say...it took however many months to put this weight on...it will take that long to take it off! Hope you have a great weekend. We are having AZ type weather here the last couple days...90-95 and HOT!

Thanks for the tips on the filling foods. I am trying harder to incorporate those into my meals each day, so that is good to know. I appreciate it. Hope you have a good day too!
