Your goals sound great and I like how you are putting in a thoughtful thing for the hubby! I try to buy him reese's pb cups which are his favorite, but that is not really the most healthy choice LOL! Have a great week meeting your goals :)

Awesome workout and awesome mindset. You can do this! I have heard kidney stones are excruciating- good motivation to try and prevent another one. I love drinking water too, it makes me feel so good. Have a great day and thanks for the pic~ you are…

I am so happy for you that you came back to a solid approach. This weight loss thing really is a lifestyle approach, not just a diet. You can do this, one day at a time :)

Had a great day, looking forward to tomorrow

I have been feeling very out of control lately. Gaining 6 pounds since December totally freaks me out, and makes me wonder what the next 3 months are going to bring. I decided to revisit my weight watchers plan and I came up with the thought that it really isn't working for me right now. I have gained weight because I binge every other day or so on junk food. Usually later at night when my husband is working and I am exhausted after putting the kids to bed. My mental thought process goes some

back on plan...sort of

I have been attempting WW since Dec. and have only gained weight. I think it is due to stress more than anything- starting back at work after being home with the kids for 4 years, changing into a different and very stressful career field, my grandmother's Alzheimers becoming more severe and we had to move her into a dementia unit in assisted living, I never see my husband because we work opposite schedules, and we are raising 3 young children. Lots of things to worry about and give me an excu

Instilling a positive food mentality in our kids

As I continue on my journey from an overweight young woman who mindlessly ate bags of Doritos to a mother who is constantly trying to teach her three children the concept of "everything in moderation", I am constantly thinking about my own childhood eating habits, and what I can do to develop in my children a healthy attitude about food. Something happened the other day that my mind keeps coming back to. The other day I was walking through our local warehouse store and there was a mother and her… Continue

intuitive eating...

I read Rachel's post last night on intuitive eating. Basically, eating when you are hungry and stopping when you are full, and eating what you want to eat so you don't feel deprived. I did great after tallying up my points, except for the two cupcakes I ate but hey those are not always around so I don't feel too bad. I am counting 5 points for the two since they were small ones, which puts me at the upper end for my points for the day. Interesting how when we eat they way we should we do so well… Continue

great start to a Sunday

This morning I woke up before anyone else, made my coffee and sat outside enjoying our cooler morning weather! It was heavenly :) I planned my meals for the day- I am feeling bloated so I am starting South Beach phase 1 today- my goal is to make it day by day all week on plan and see where I am at the end. Two full weeks on phase 1 is my goal and I know I can do it, it will take planning and effort on my part and I am up for the task. I know I will feel so much better by the end. I am also plann… Continue

Hi Alison! I love your new profile pic! I been here in a while & I'm sure you can guess that means I haven't been doing so hot. Well I ready to do this now. I look forward to chatting with you!

Alison, I think you look fabulous! Thanks for the encouragement. I remember being your age very well with three little ones. Life is so fun but so much stress. Dieting was always on my mind but the hardest thing to fit into my schedule. Keep us posted on your progress. You have already had a great achievement.

Sure I can start posting some of my meals... it makes me laugh when you say I'm always so good at balancing. I guess in the past I have but this month has been ROUGH. But maybe that will motivate me to eat healthier! I hope your week is going well!

Thank you Alison... thank you so much! I appreciate it so much that you are praying for me. It also helps to know someone else has been there (with the debt thing). I'm sure so many people struggle with it but don't say anything. Dave Ramsey is awesome! My husband and I started taking the class at our church before my daughter was born but then I had her and we didn't go back... so I will definitely check out that book. What a great idea! Thanks so much for caring.

Alison..thank you for the beautiful words! You are so sweet and very encouraging! I also look up to you and what YOU have accomplished! Good luck with Phase 1. I did it too and lost my last five pounds. Then...I transitioned into clean eating which is very similiar to phase 2 and 3. South Beach was the only thing that could get those last five off and now Im maintaining. It was hard at first but I adjusted. Have a fun trip and enjoy yourself. Pack a small cooler for yourself with healthy foods so its always available...that really helps!

Yes, I now eat all my ap's and all my flex. My daily target is supposed to be 19 points a day, but I've been staying at 20 the past few days. So the 25-27 points is just an average, some days are higher some are lower. I do feel satisfied at that range though. How often do I eat bread? Well I can't remember the last time I ate a piece of bread. I just don't find sandwiches filling enough to be worth the points. But I do eat whole wheat english muffins pretty often. I do usually try to stick to filling foods, like I generally avoid crackers/chips or those 100cal packs and stuff. But to a certain extent, I also eat what I want pretty often (i.e. donuts and taco bell) and just count points for it. So I guess it's a mix of both!
