WHAT WENT RIGHT IN 2008? • I finally hit the 50-pounds-lost mark. • Attended WW meetings regularly. • Fit back into a size 12. • Settled on a mantra that works pretty well for me: "One day — one choice — at a time." • Started tracking what I eat more consistently. • My blog has developed quite the following. :D WHAT STILL NEEDS TO CHANGE? • I don't get in all my water consistently. • More movement — I don't exercise as much as I should. • I tend to forget to take my daily multivitamin.
WHAT I WANT TO CONTINUE IN 2009 • Exercising (I'm thinking about checking into the cost of Curves.) • Tracking every bite, every day (It's when I don't write it down that I get off track.) • Losing weight (I want to get to my WW goal weight by June 1 — or sooner!) WHAT I WANT TO CHANGE • Letting the Boyfriend influence my food choices (This is the biggie!) • Eating so much fast food • My clothing size (I want to fit back into my size 8 jeans!) • Weight (WW goal is 170 ... personal goal 160) WHAT I WANT TO IMPROVE ON • Getting in eight 8-ounce glasses of water (or sugar-free flavored water) a day • Exercising consistently (I especially need to focus on strength work. I'm not bad at the cardio requirement already. But I need to move more all around. Some weeks I'm good at working out regularly, and others I'm really very lazy.)
Arlene is an Arizona journalist who has had to battle with her weight since about fifth grade. She lost 105 pounds in two years on Atkins, but regained about 70 of those pounds after meeting her boyfriend, a carb freak. She joined WW in August 2007 and has lost 61 pounds since then. Slow and steady wins the race, right?
Highest known weight: 306
WW start weight: 245.6
Current weight: 185.6 (as of Friday, April 3, 2009)
WW goal weight: 170
Personal goal 160-ish
Thanks, everyone. I feel better now that I've blogged about it. Today was another decent day. I got in that walk and ate pretty well ... I've had a small case of the munchies (a granola bar and mini Tootsie Pop), but still have FPs I could eat for...
I was just reading the July issue of Shape magazine, and saw an article that spoke to me: "8 reasons to start loving your body today" (Forgive me if someone else has already shared it.)
Here are the reasons that I particularly liked:
• Because no matter how badly you treat it, it's willing to give you another chance.
• Because somebody out there admires, covets and adores it.
After two straight weeks of staying OP — and getting just 12 pounds from my WW goal — I had a major meltdown this past week (and weekend).
I'm not sure what happened. I think I just got complacent with so few pounds left to lose and decided I could go off-plan and eat whatever I wanted — and skimp on the exercise. Well, I certainly got a swift kick in the pants for that assumption.
When I weighed in this past Monday, the scale had jumped 7.2 pounds — to 189.2. Ugh!
After weeks of bouncing around, I've started to really get serious about WW ... and I'm down 4.4 pounds this week to show for it.
That makes 5.4 pounds in 2 weeks, and 64 pounds overall since I started WW back in August 2007.
Even better, that puts me at 182, which is JUST 12 POUNDS away from GOAL! (Yes, I'm excited about that.)
Oddly enough, I didn't have a perfect weekend. In fact, I actually bought a donut (taking a page from Rachel), took it home, put it on a plate, cut it into fourths an… Continue
This was my dessert tonight, and it was so good, I wanted to share.
I can't remember where I read about this stuff, but when my local grocery store had it on sale for $2.99, I HAD to try it. I'm glad I did. It's seriously delicious ... It reminds me a little of Greek yogurt, but it's s… Continue
My weekend fell in the middle of the week ... I was off (and with the Boyfriend) Tuesday and Wednesday.
Amazingly enough, I stayed OP. OK, it helped that I spent most of Tuesday on my own. I put Hungry Girl's BBQ pulled chicken in the crock pot in the morning and ate it for dinner. By the time I met up with the Boyfriend that night, I still had enough Points for a Jr. Candy Sundae at Sonic. Boy, did that sundae taste good!
On Wednesday, I ate a healthy breakfast (oatmeal) and lunch (leftover p… Continue

I had to go buy dry milk too. I think it would be in the "baking" isle...but not 100% sure. I bought it in my tiny neighborhood grocery store....and paid through the nose for it! lol
Oh believe me, I noticed right away! Fountain Coke is the only regular pop I can stand. Anything else, I may as well drink Karo syrup. Diet Pepsi is my one vice.
Hey, I'm back on BTL! Looking forward to catching up with you. I've seen lots of successful facebook updates, so I look forward to hearing your stories about everything. Hope you are well. :)
Hi Arlene. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment on my blog. I remember you from WAY back, the first time I tried this blogging community. Hmmmm....do I see a theme here? LOL I guess I have kind of adopted your mantra, "One day...one choice...at a time." I'm really gonna give this a go! BTW, love the format of your blog! I hope to develope mine as I learn to develope myself!
GoWear works out to be a bit cheaper than the BodyBugg. The initial cost (from amazon) is lower, and the monthly fee is 1/2 that of BodyBugg. I am so excited that you are getting Nike+! I hope you love it as much as I do! It's very motivating.
