Weight-Loss Ticker and Goals

WHAT WENT RIGHT IN 2008?
• I finally hit the 50-pounds-lost mark.
• Attended WW meetings regularly.
• Fit back into a size 12.
• Settled on a mantra that works pretty well for me: "One day — one choice — at a time."
• Started tracking what I eat more consistently.
• My blog has developed quite the following. :D
WHAT STILL NEEDS TO CHANGE?
• I don't get in all my water consistently.
• More movement — I don't exercise as much as I should.
• I tend to forget to take my daily multivitamin.

WHAT I WANT TO CONTINUE IN 2009
• Exercising (I'm thinking about checking into the cost of Curves.)
• Tracking every bite, every day (It's when I don't write it down that I get off track.)
• Losing weight (I want to get to my WW goal weight by June 1 — or sooner!)
WHAT I WANT TO CHANGE
• Letting the Boyfriend influence my food choices (This is the biggie!)
• Eating so much fast food
• My clothing size (I want to fit back into my size 8 jeans!)
• Weight (WW goal is 170 ... personal goal 160)
WHAT I WANT TO IMPROVE ON
• Getting in eight 8-ounce glasses of water (or sugar-free flavored water) a day
• Exercising consistently (I especially need to focus on strength work. I'm not bad at the cardio requirement already. But I need to move more all around. Some weeks I'm good at working out regularly, and others I'm really very lazy.)

She lost 105 pounds in two years on Atkins, but regained about 70 of those pounds after meeting her boyfriend, a carb freak. She joined WW in August 2007 and has lost 61 pounds since then. Slow and steady wins the race, right?

I, too, know how you feel. I've been basically maintaining (but trying to lose another 15-20 pounds) for more than a year ... Plateaus suck. Mine is self-induced, because I let myself get off-track when I'm with the Boyfriend.

that is a TOTAL NSV!!! Waaaaaaayyyy to go!! It's hard to realize that your health is more important than staying in your comfort zone and accepting what others give you...it's YOUR body and by golly you are gonna speak up! Great job!

If you focus only on the lifetime "bad" choices you've made, you aren't giving yourself credit. Life is not about three months ago; life is about right now. Right now you are making good choices, right now you are losing weight. Life is not about th…

That is a good way to look at it. I'll try, but I'm not sure I'm quite ready for that paradigm shift yet ... :D

Verdict is in

I can't afford to go to my WW meeting for a few weeks, but I decided to keep a Monday WI for myself anyway.

The verdict on the bad choices I made most of last week is in: 190.0.

The good news about this number I don't like is that last Monday, I weighed on the home scale at 192.something ... so 190 is an improvement.

However, considering back in October I was 183.2 (just 13.2 pounds from goal), this is not a joyous occasion.

I'll take it anyway. At least it's headed in the right direction!

Taco Bell screwed up my order ...

... And I still stayed OP!

That's right. I ordered the "Drive Thru diet" combo — two grilled steak tacos, fresco-style. But I got regular ones instead — that's 7 Points each instead of 3. So not worth the extra 4 Points apiece. I picked the cheese off taco No. 2 and called it 12 Points for my late lunch.

Had I not gotten them to go, I'd have said something. But I was already at work by the time I realized the error.

I'm getting better about speaking up. Yesterday, I took a sip of my iced tea… Continue

A second straight good day

Dare I think I'm beginning a streak?

Today wasn't quite as good as Friday — ate 28 Points (5 over the 23 I'm allowed) and still didn't get any exercise. Even so, I feel so much better than I did earlier in the week ... I feel so good that I'd be doing a happy dance if I had any energy left for that kind of thing at 2 a.m, after a long day at work.

I'd write more, but I'm going to take some NyQuil gelcaps and put myself to bed. You can read more about Day 2 In Control at… Continue

I needed that

Finally, I had a good day.

Ate 25 Points. I'm allowed 23, so I was 2 over ... but compared to the last week or so, that's fantastic.

I opted for a salad for lunch (OK, it was a chicken bacon ranch salad from McDonald's, but it was a salad all the same). And I ate a low-Point but filling dinner and sweet snack afterward. When I was still hungry as the evening wore on, I DID NOT visit the vending machine. (OK, I did get a Diet Dr. Pepper ... but no food.) I waited until I got home and fix… Continue

Still spinning out of control

Today started out well — slept in, went out for a healthy lunch ... but then all hell broke loose.

You can read all about my epic failure over at Adventures in Weight Loss.

Suffice it to say, five slices of Hawaiian pizza over the course of 10 hours is not a healthy choice. Nor is the dried cranberry trail mix that accompanied said pizza slices.

On the plus side, I found Deep Choco… Continue

Arlene, thanks for commenting on my blog post. When I looked at your blogsite and realized how SUCCESSFUL you've been and yet still feel like you are struggling, I realized that this will be a fight I will have to continue for the rest of my life, not just until I lose the weight. This is a great reminder that this has to be truly a change in lifestyle not just a diet. Thank you!!

Hi Arlene. Thanks for the comment. I think that eating out may be the one issue that is going to be the most difficult to correct this time around. :(

So, I feel horrible for you (and terribly jealous all at the same time). I can't imagine having to work in a food related business right now. Good luck with the daily battle!
