28 minutes is better than nothing, at least you got out there and did it. Great job!! I am however concerned that you said freezing and Florida in the same sentence!! I am looking at more than a foot of snow out my window right now!! haha....Have a…

Just to add, I went to a store that actually measures your feet, checks your gate, and the arch of your heel before determining what type of shoe will work best for you. They feel good just on and are definitely not too small.

Profile Information

About Me:
It seems that every time I turn around my profile is out of date and even false at that point. So I think I'm going to simplify it a bit. I am a 30-something mom of two amazing, young girls. I work full-time, but live to be a mom. I have struggled with my weight on some level my entire life. I lost all my weight at one point in my life to then just gain it all back after two kids. I'm on a journey to health and freedom from the control that food has had on my life.

I'm moving!

The first time in a long time I went for a walk. Bundled up for the freezing Florida air, grabbed the dog (who was ecstatic!), put my new pair of shoes on, and went out the door. My goal was to walk for 40 minutes. I'm not "strolling" but I'm not speed racing either. About 5 minutes into it the bottoms of my feet felt like they were getting charlie horses. About 15 minutes into it I thought I might cry they hurt so bad. Then about 20 minutes into it the pain subsided, but my feet still felt tens… Continue

Moving Forward

My three year old daughter has been in and out (mostly in) the hospital for the last 6 months receiving chemotherapy. Back in August we found out she had a brain tumor and my life has been crazy ever since.

Through that I have managed to get to an all-time high weight. I tried starting back up with Weight Watchers in December, but every time we were back in the hospital I would succumb to emotional eating and bad food choices. I can't use hospital food as an excuse since the

A Roni Inspired Post

I read the following for the first time on Roni's Weigh last Thursday and it has been swimming in my head ever since.

"Core hurt eating tries to avoid feeling disregarded, unimportant, guilty, devalued, disrespected, rejected, powerless, inadequate, or unlovable. The connection between core hurts and high-energy, high-sensory food is irresistible. Core hurts cause pain and deplete energy; rapid eating of high sensory, high calorie food numbs pain and restores energy, for a few minutes.

Core va… Continue

Been MIA...

My three year old daughter was found to have a brain tumor on August 4. On August 6 there were able to remove the entire tumor. Unforunately, it was a very malignant cancer and requires an aggressive form of chemotherapy. Even though they can't see any more of the cancer cells it has a history of recurring when not treated. So...I have been and will be MIA for months. I am home for two days before I have to return to the hospital. She is doing well so far with her first round of chemo, but there… Continue

Hmmm...maybe I should BLOG

I haven't been here in awhile...haven't been on plan very consistently. I did see a 13lb weightloss recently, but swiftly gained back 6 lbs without trying. No...scratch that. I definitely worked hard at it - lots of eating. Anyways...I was just reading the tag line on my (and everyone's) blog page and its says "no matter the plan we all blog to lose." Hey...I haven't blogged in a long time. Maybe I should give that a whirl again. :-)

What I did to lose 13 lbs and what I think I can do again to… Continue

Hey Barb! Son is just great, just started his BA at UNM 2 weeks ago. It's amazing what they can do in the treatment of cancer nowadays.

Hey Barb, I tried the C25K once and I thought I was going to die. I can't do it on the sloping sidewalks. I hope I can begin when I return to NYC in the fall. How is your program coming along?

I've been stuck on week 4 of the C25K forever because I can't get myself to the gym consistently enough to feel comfortable moving on. It can be frustrating I know but you can do it! :)

Hey Barb, how is the C25K going? I am still chicken. My temporary neighborhood has hills!

I know how that goes Barb! I got bogged down for a few weeks with a bad case of Bronchitis! it'll be kind of rough getting back into it - but you can do it =) Just think of how nice it will be to refer to yourself as a "runner" ... that's what I keep telling myself "I am a runner"

I'm glad to hear you're getting back to full strength! Sickness seems to always come at the worse times. I should have been done with C25k like a week ago, but i'm in the middle of 6 due to all the crazyness my life as undergone!

Keep at it friend =) i'm sending you lots of love and support!

Hey barb! Just making my rounds and noticed I haven't seen you around in awhile! How has your C25k running been going?

You know when I first began working out a little over a month ago, I saw hardly any change in the scale. If anything, the scale went up. It was discouraging but I told myself-muscle gain, muscle holding water, TOM, sugar, salt, backed up-anything to keep spirits up. I saw a difference in my body, so I knew something was going on! Eventually, one day I got on the scale, and I was like "whoa!" The weight had just fallen off. I am sure the same will happen for you as well.
