Attention campers, lunch has been cancelled today, due to lack of hustle. Deal with it...

Anyone remember Heavyweights the highly awesome but wholly underrated early 90s comedy starring the yet unknown Ben Stiller? If you're fat/chubby/big boned whatever it'll make you laugh. Anyways, I'm still chubby and still settling into my new place. I haven't been at this weight since 3 years ago which coincidentally was the last time I lived full time with the husband. My weight always exponentially goes up whenever I live with a man. I could blame him (and yes on my cranky days I

I want to do The Work

I want to do The Work.

In fact I’ve already started The Work. Ya know the “oh this is so freakin’ hard” work of losing weight. And my dear friends don’t otherwise fool yourselves like I have – repeatedly- into thinking that you won’t have to really work at it to lose weight. You want the results you gotta work. I’m not getting any younger and if I don’t set myself up for success while I can I will have wasted the best years of my life chubby and unhappy and worst of all I will have no… Continue

Shrinking Muffin Top

The above picture is not me as much anymore. I'm down 3 lbs this week so I'm at 141 lbs. It's a nice combination of consistent exercise and calorie counting. Don't get me wrong I don't kill myself in the gym (I aim for 30-40 minutes) and I don't eat grilled chicken and steamed vegetables for eve… Continue

Running 26.2 miles!

Yes I did it; I signed up for all 26.2 heartbreaking marathon miles! The race is 10 months away but it's paid for so now I just have to train for it. I have been eating fantastic and feeling great and I am thrilled with where my health habits are heading. Since cleaning up my eating I can feel the difference in my runs - for real. I feel lighter and don't have that sluggish after effect of a greasy large french fry from McDonalds weighing down my runs. Calorie counting is also goin… Continue

Hope the gym joining went well. I'd say a marathon is one helluva goal! :-) Mine is in 2 1/2 months, but the doc won't give me the clear to start training again for at least another 2 weeks. We'll see if I can make it in time. You know how it is to…

Wordpress is a good blog site to start up with (and it's free) and from there you can grow to learning about web design and all that fun stuff. I love reading your blog! The recipe looks yummy too!

I totally agree! When I finished my first 1/2 I just couldn't believe it - I felt so powerful. I am really looking forward to beating my PB and having that sense of accomplishment again!!!

Jackie...so far (after only 1 week) I TOTALLY LOVE the BodyBugg. Like Elaine says, in order for it to work you have to be religious about logging every little thing you eat! Just seeing it all in black and white is very motivating. You can SEE that you aren't as active one day compared to another etc...and it motivates you to get up off the couch and burn some extra calories to see that "deficit" goal met!

The BodyBugg is worth every last cent. I can not give it enough praise. You will absolutely adore it. The one catch is you have to be willing to log your food on their website every day in order to see the numbers.

Hi Jackie. I'm following the macro eating plan outlined in Wendy Chant's book "Crack the fat loss code." You eat 4-6 times a day to rev up your metabolism and manipulate when you eat carbs to keep your body from hitting a plateau.

Thank you so much Jackie. Your comment really touched me, a lot. You are exactly right, that is EXACTLY how I feel- aimless!! You've really given me something to think about.

Hi Jackie! I love calorie counting. It has been working great for me since my start back in late June. I use a website called livestrong.com to track what I eat. They have an iPhone app that syncs with the website too if you're an iPhone lady. I signed up (free) thinking that it wouldn't last long and that it would feel like a ball and chain. But...I found that I can easily track while I check e-mails (about three times a day that usually coincide with my meals). I've found that this website has nearly everything I eat, and what it doesn't have I can add to the database. I have never counted points before, so I couldn't tell you the pros/cons compared to points. What I like about counting calories...or more specifically, livestrong.com, is that I can pay attention to other parts of my diet (like breakdown between carbs/fat/protein, breakdown between meals, sodium intake, saturated fat intake, water intake) and my exercise too. Sometimes it is a pain in the neck, especially when the food isn't in their database but overall I love it and can't imagine trying to successfully monitor various parts of my diet without it. Good luck on your decision!

Hi Jackie! Thank you SO MUCH for your comment. I used to have that attitude of using my body and being thankful for the physical abilities that I have. I needed your post to remind me of those feelings. What I appreciated most was what you wrote about motivation-- "it's never lost, it's just wandering around waiting for you to find it again."

It's so funny you should mention that about the birth control... I've only been on it a week and I've noticed many side effects. I wasn't sure if they were from the BC or not so I googled the reviews of this particular birth control, and I read review after review of many people having the same symptoms, including depression! I am not taking another pill... thanks for your advice!

Im loving P90X so far. Its hard and time consuming, but a great workout. I bought it new online for only $55. You can buy them used for a good deal too. Just make sure it comes with all the DVD,s and the nutrition plan when you buy it. There are a lot of knock offs going around. I think mine was a knock off....but it had everything that it was supposed to have in the kit so I was Ok with it. I spent a lot getting weights, a mat, bands, a pull up bar and a weight to get started. It was worth it though. Im not paying for a gym membership anymore so its fine. Anyways, I will post before and after pics so you can see the difference.....hopefully!
