About Me:
I’ve spent over 30 years obsessed with my weight. I’m embarrassed to admit that I was a very little girl when my weight came into my consciousness and has been there ever since. I have gained and lost the same sixty pounds at least three times and fluctuated in between countless more. And like many reading this, so many diets have come and gone. There was Nutrisystem, Jenny Craig, Physicans Weight Loss, South Beach, Slim Fast, and my all time favorite “Kassie’s Dancer Diet” bestowed upon me by my nutritionist aunt who had high hopes for her one and only niece becoming a star ballerina. My obsession was like a love/hate relationship with an old friend. “Love” because it had been around so long and was “comfortable”; “Hate” because it had always controlled me. That is until now.

I’ve lost 37 pounds (again) and am over halfway to my goal. I’d love to tell you that I’ve dropped this weight quickly, and because I’m such an “experienced” dieter that this time was a piece of cake (no pun intended.) But alas that is not the case. It has taken me a really LONG time (about 18 months). And, I suspect that it will take a while to lose the rest. But in an odd way, I think this has been the key to my success so far and why I’m confident I’ll keep it off this time. It is a complete change in mindset. I honestly don’t care how long it takes me because I know I’ll be a “Weight Watcher” for the rest of my life. I must be honest…this was a tough but liberating realization. I do believe in setting both long-term and short-term goals, but that can’t be the “end all”. Because then the journey becomes more about the goal (high school reunion or wedding) than it is about the lifestyle and mindset. Bottom line – it’s about living in the moment. Every day, I ask myself one question, “Am I healthier than I was yesterday?” If the answer is yes, then I’m doing the right thing.
Plan of Choice:
Weight Watchers
Workout Philosophy:
I'm a gym rat ALL the way, I only exercise because I have to

I'm Back...

I took a little hiatus from my blog...it's actually been a challenging time, a lot of work stress plus self-sabotaging going on. I hit the 41.5 pound mark which felt fantastic! But ever since then, I feel like I've been sabotaging myself! I'm not sure if I got scared or what, but it's like I can't stop eating. I didn't even go to my WW meeting last week because I didn't want to face the scale! I'd guess I'm up 4 pounds or so. I'm now back on track...which feels good. I also think I set too high… Continue

Workout Headache?

Ouch! I worked out during my lunch hour today and took a "Tread 'N Shed" class...it was a GREAT class, but I must have worked hard, because my face is STILL flushed and I've got a nagging headache! Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions of how to avoid these things? Otherwise, my day has been great. Got A LOT done at work (I just love being productive) and I have felt good all day (other than my headache!)

Sickie

I hate being sick. I can't work out, I feel like sh**, can't sleep, etc. Luckily, I haven't fallen victim to drowning my sickie sorrows in food! I've managed to stay within my daily points, even without activity points. It's so funny how we take for granted how good being healthy really feels! I didn't go weigh-in this week...so next week, I'm hoping for a big loss...hopefully I'll be at my 40+ point!

Another Good Weekend!

It's been a while since I've blogged. Just been super-busy! I think I need to designate a specific time to read other's post and post my own (I'm such a structured person....drives me crazy!) Any way, yesterday was a perfect day in my world. Took a power walk to the fruit/veggie stand, got some great fresh produce and powerwalked home. Then my husband and I went to Steppenwolf Theater to see our first play (we bought an annual subscription - 5 plays - I'm actually still amazed that my husband ag… Continue

GREAT weekend!

My weekend ended as good as it started (I LOVE that!) We walked all over the city yesterday (it was beautiful outside.) Then at the baseball game, I brought my own popcorn and only ate one hotdog...which is very good for me! Today, we went out to lunch before our friends left town, I ordered a veggie burger (took off 1/2 of the bun) and a side salad. I felt completely satisfied! It just goes to show you how being around people who are also concerned with their health can make a big difference. I… Continue

P90X is a hardcore 13 DVD at home workout program that is supposed to give you drastic results in 90 days (each Phase is 30 days long). I just started Phase 2, so I'm hoping I can keep it up!

Haha! I have no idea how I manage to stay away from those extra points either! It's completely odd.. I've been asking around on various posts to see if that's normal.. I have been thinkin I should eat those though becuase that way when I do want to use them, I don't gain.. Hmm. Maybe I'm thinkin too much. :P

Congrats on a great run today! The weather here today is beautiful so it was nice to get out. Great idea to change your route if it was making you grumpy on the way there! Have a fantastic week!
