What a great birth story!! I love the part about the hand!!
yesterday
August 17th, 2010 After being continually frustrated with the fact that my contractions would come and go and start and stop, Monday night I knew I would have the baby within about 24 to 36 hours. It was about 11:30 pm on 8/16 that my contractions c…

This is "You've got to be effing kidding me" Friday - I'm up 0.2. I know that point 2 is not a lot - but dammit if I'm not working my ass off and stuck in this rut. Now, I take full responsibility for the overindulging I did at the State Fair last S…

Hi ladies! I'm sorry to have been so out of the loop around here- new rules at work so I'll be here less frequently. The evenings are so busy that I rarely get to post then, but I'll try to make the effort a little more now. I'm down 0.6 this week.…

*grumble* I am UP 0.3 this week. I could make a bunch of excuses and guesses as to why- but simple fact is- I'm up. I feel like I worked hard this week - but hopefully it will show on the scale next week. I'm definitely in plateauville right now. I'…

Profile Information

About Me:
I'm a 33 yr old mother of 2 who manages a marketing department at a publishing company. I am generally satisfied with my life, except my weight- and I hope to change that with this journey. After many starts and stops, this is where I make the choice to move forward and never look back. (This is a continuation of the goals I set before becoming pregnant with my daughter in 2009. She was born 11/17/09).

Why I'm here to stay this time:
- I don't want to be fat anymore. PERIOD.
- I want to be able to wear clothes without struggle of finding the one thing that doesn't look like a tent and makes me feel super sexy.
- I want to have energy to run around with my kids and make them chase me for once.
- My husband loves and supports me; but it is unfair of ME to expect him to tiptoe around my feelings about my weight when I have the control to change my situation.
- I want to run again. I AM RUNNING AGAIN!! (I signed up for a Ragnar Relay team- check it out!)
- I want to swim for fitness again and not be afraid to be in a suit.
- I want to stop secretly comparing myself to other fat people wondering if I look as obese as they do, or if I am secretly fooling myself and actually look worse.
- I have to break out of my comfort zone to do this. Which means
- I have to workout when I don't want to- even if that's 7 or 8pm (I'm doing it!)
- I have to make the sensible choices when eating- in or out. And learn that I can't
make excuses every time I want the cheeseburger or gooey dessert.
- I am shedding the mental weight it takes to be obese. And with that, I will shed the physical weight to prevent both from coming back.
- Because of that last point- I realized that it actually takes a lot of work to stay fat. Really. So if I put that effort into keeping myself in an unhappy body- I will put that effort into making it a happy, fit body.
- I have to stop being afraid to be thin.

What I get along the way:

Since November 2009 (birth of my daughter):
I am down 50+ lbs. I have 11 lbs to lose to be at a pre-kids weight.

Stretch Goal: to Onederland by October 2, 2010 (my 6th wedding anniversary)
Reward:Get a day at the spa

down 75# =
down 100# =
hit goal weight = CRUISE!! to somewhere warm where I get to be in a bathing suit and not hide. (this will happen within a year of hitting goal)
Plan of Choice:
Weight Watchers
Workout Philosophy:
I'm a Running Fanatic

I have the WILL....now where is the WAY!!

I made it through the first week of being back to work and managing having two kids to juggle to daycare and after work....and I survived. It was difficult, but possible, and I'm glad the first week is over.

However, and maybe I'm expecting too much from myself, even though I really wanted to- I could not find the time to work it in- I got one workout in this week. I'm getting up at 5:30 as it is and then in the evenings- we don't stop moving until at least 9pm between bottle washings for dayca… Continue

Back to routine, thank goodness!

Monday, I return to work from maternity leave of having my 2nd daughter. I don't want to go back to work yet- seems like it went so much faster than the first time around. . . . but on the other hand, I am thankful for the structure it will bring back to every day life. My eating habits are so much better when I am working- at home, its too easy to pick (and pick the wrong things!). At work, I am very regimented and focused- and I do much better at drinking water there too. It will also be good… Continue

6 weeks- where does the time go?

Today is 6 weeks since my daughter was born.
I thought I'd take a few to check in and note where I stand.

I put on 40 lbs during my pregnancy- so far in 6 weeks, I've lost 30 or 31 (depending on the scale). Considering that was over the holidays- I'm pretty pleased with that result. This has all been due to the way I'm eating and not for exercise- I just haven't found how to get that planned exercise in on a regular basis- I've worked out ONCE since I gave birth.

I wish we had a treadmill at w… Continue

An Overdue Update

No pun intended on the overdue...I'm no where near my due date at the moment :)

I'm 27 weeks pg now and while I've gained more weight than I had originally set as a goal for myself, I have not overdone it at all, in my or my doctors opinion- I think my body is doing what it needs to do this time. I've gained about 25 lbs total so far- and the weight seems to come on at about a .5 lb to 1 lb a week now. So, I think in all- I'll put about 30-35 lbs on. And I'm ok with that. Originally, I wanted t… Continue

I can't BTL- but I can blog to keep on track.

I am 16 weeks pregnant now, get to find out the gender in just 4 more weeks! Aside from the few weeks of morning sickness, this pregnancy is going very well so far. At 16 weeks, I've officially (according to the Doc office) gained 12 lbs; but yesterday's appt as the day after I came back from a 5 day vacation and 8 hours of driving- so I'm pretty sure it's more like only 10 lbs total. No worries either way, I'm keeping a watch on it and trying to gain the necessary, but not extra, weight. Having… Continue

I'll have to look into it. I am planning a few running events this year - a couple of four mile and I think a 10k (which is what I am working up toward). Good for you for doing the mini! My husband did it twice, but I have sworn up and down that I will not do it. Yeah, ask me in a year if I have gotten a chance to complete my 10k and I might answer differently. :) Send me the information on the running group. What side of town are you on? We're out near Brownsburg.

Yeh, I am loving my workday more than I have ever loved it. Nice to have some solid "me" and quiet time! The new gym sounds great!!

My treadmill is in our garage--didn't know where to put it when we moved into this new house OVER A YEAR AGO, so we just left it there... I think I will try dragging it into the house soon--I have a perfect place for it now. It is so cumbersome! I think it will be easier to exercise at home, when Henry is napping/sleeping.

How is work? daycare? Things are great on this end. We have a nice little schedule, just need to muster up the energy to keep going at this pace?! I don't know how you do it with two kids!!!

Hi Emily. I return to work on Monday too. We can support one another on that day! I am going to be a wreck. I have had four months with Henry--long enough to get really attached to him.

Glad to hear you are well! 36 weeks... wow! I only made it to 37 weeks, and I was SO ready--not sure how I would have handled 3 more weeks! I remember feeling stretched and so sore at times. You must be so tired too, especially since you also have your daughter!

Henry is doing well. He is napping for longer stretches--able to self soothe, so I am able to have a little more "me" time. I am getting used to living life in 2-3 hour intervals and living in the moment--going back to work in January will feel strange! Motherhood is awesome--lots of cuddling and watching Henry grow/develop. He changes daily. He had his first giggle yesterday--made me melt?! Of course he giggled for his dad and not me, but I am sure I will get plenty soon!! We have pics at http://henrywilliamson.shutterfly.com if you want to check them out
