Gallbladder Surgery

Well, surgery went well, uneventful. I stayed overnight for one night for dehydration and pain control but all in all was ok. I took off one weekend for work and went back last weekend. I feel great. As an added result, I lost another 6 pounds since surgery and have now met my bariatric surgeons weight loss goal so now I just have to make it to my next 2 weigh ins with them to get them documented for insurance and then I move along to the next step which will be insurance approval....hoping and… Continue

Surgery

So...I had yet another gallbladder attack in the middle of my shift Sunday (Thankfully we only had 4 patients!), so I went down to the ER, got iv hydration and some pain meds and was as good as new!. The ER doc called my bariatric surgeon, pinned down with him what was going on and the bariatric surgeon asked to see me no later than this morning. So I went yesterday at 1pm and 5 minutes after he examined me, he told me the best thing to do right now is to take the gallbladder out as it would jus… Continue

Big updates!!!

Well....I haven't blogged lately. More because I have gotten busy with the holidays and all, but also because things have changed majorly for me in the way of weight loss. I started looking into weight loss surgery. I attended a informational seminar here in Indianapolis December 11th and after hearing all of the risks/benefits of the surgery and researching all of the pros/cons personally, I decided to go forward with having the surgery. So, I had a consult with a surgeon (Samer Mattar,MD) last… Continue

update from my dr's appointment

ok...finally got into my primary care doc this afternoon after all that happened this week and his assessment was that I was having a migraine that was triggering everything else to go haywire. He ordered a thyroid test just to make sure but after having that measured 2 or 3 times already in the past I am sure that is fine. Anyway, for the migraine he gave me a shot of Toradol and had me wait 30 min.....that did nothing, no change in headache or my blood pressure. So then, we moved along to Imit… Continue

Very scary episode from yesterday!

ok...so I wake up at 715 yesterday morning with a headache and my normal sicky achy self and take 2 ibuprofen and then promptly go back to bed. Wake back up at 815 and have this god awful unbelieveable pressure in my chest. I get up thinking that I have slept wrong somehow and a muscle is hurting and so I try walking it off, bending, etc whatever I could do to get it to ease....no luck...it is by then bringing me to tears and am now breaking out in a clammy sweat and feel like I am gonna vomit.… Continue

We don't have a ww center or anything. Our leader drives from another town and does four different meetings at a church in town only on Thursday. I looked into going to a meeting 30 miles away, but it's on Monday. :(

No problem at all! I was just reading a few of your blogs! Keep up the great work. You have some really inspiring goals that I might add to a list I've been creating.

Ahhh yes running okay. Best piece of advice I can offer you is to start slowly. If you think you are running slow, run slower. The hardest thing (for me anyway) was to adjust my body to running for long periods of time. To do that you have to learn how to breath and get over that mental hurdle while running all at the same time.

First and most important you need to get yourself to a local running store. They will evaluate your gait and your feet and fit you with the proper pair of sneakers. It's incredibly important for you to have the right sneakers or you are just setting yourself up for injury :O/

Next, a lot of people have had success with the couch-to-5k program! I highly recommend it! It's easy enough for anyone to do and the schedule will give you something to stick to :O)

It takes a while to buildup but it's really key not to overexert yourself. That will help you stick to it and again avoid getting hurt. These days I run on auto pilot so I promise you it gets easier. The trick is you have to keep pushing yourself when something becomes too easy so that you can get better.

Hope that helps!!!
