About Me:
Let's face it, I've been overweight all my life. Well, except for maybe babyhood! I'm 43 years old, I have teenagers and a husband that I couldn't keep up with until I started losing weight. I don't think I'll ever be an athlete, but I want to be able to keep up!

I was sick of it, sick of being tired, sick of looking lumpy in everything I wear, sick of buying fat clothes, just sick of it. I want to be healthy, I want to live a long life, I want to be successful in my journey, and feel good about myself.

I will do this, I don't care how long it takes! I am going to make it and I am going to reach my goal!

I can honestly say I enjoy working out and that it surprises me. I get into the gym, get sweaty and feeling it in my muscles, and it drives me to work harder...I've been off track for a while, but getting back in the swing to get rid of more of this extra weight. It'll kill me if I don't!

Biggest Loser and MOTIVATION

Ok, I missed about the last half hour...no idea who was below the yellow line, nor who went home..I can tell you who I wanted to see go....that ditz from last week...Mo's partner....unfortunately that means he'll go too...but she is a bitch! Crocheting Group?

This is something that is often suggested as a way to avoid all that snacking we seem to like doing while watching TV. It keeps your hands busy, your brain working...keeps you out of the kitchen...away from the leftovers...

I was thinking I might start a crocheting group in here. We could swap patterns, techniques, ideas...pictures...

New Roads?

Well, last Friday the boss took me into his office...I thought I was getting fired, I really did! Instead he told me he thought that it wasn't working out, but rather than just let me go, he called around to other agent's offices to see if anyone needed a part time admin person, so that I could keep working for him part time and enable me to look for another job outside of State Farm if that is what I wanted.

Going Overboard

Not sure why I do that, I can hear myself saying, "Self, you need to put the fork down...don't eat that....go brush your teeth and drink some water...you aren't hungry, you're bored, find something to do..."

I had a few minutes like that last night while eating cold spaghetti out of the pan...I was hungry, but don't like to eat that late...not doing that tonight, I've got a schedule tonight. Eggplant Casserole

Not sure what this is called but my friend Michelle made it for dinner the other night and I stopped by and tried it and it's SOOO good...she sent me a text with the recipe...here goes!

1 pound eggplant sliced longways (to make long strips) - she used two eggplants
1 can artichoke hearts, chopped
2 T basil
1/2 C Feta cheese
Perdue packaged chicken strips
your favorite spaghetti/marinara sauce

And The Verdict Is....

We arrived back in our home last Thursday night amid boxes and suitcase and are finally back after the fire! It's been a hectic couple of days unpacking and hanging pictures but we're gettng there.

I avoided the scale until Saturday morning. I knew I had gained weight over those 6 weeks, and thought it must be a lot because by that time my feet were badly swollen and painful and my rings were tight...along with my pants!

House Update

Well, I know I complained about the whole not being in my house issue yesterday...such a lively post and no comments...not that I can blame anyone....boo hoo me, right?

We went to the house last night just to check on things, like we've done daily since work began. Loads of issues and things that need to be fixed that the crew has messed up....all pretty minor, but regardless it's frustrating.

Still Not Home

It's been more than a month now and we are still not back in our house after our fire. We have about a week to go. The painting is finally done, but we are waiting on cabinets, counter tops, sink, and carpet. The paint looks great, so I am excited about the rest.

We'll see just how long it really takes. I am so tired of living in a hotel it isn't funny!!

Hey Michele... I was going to start taking glucosamine before the walk, but the pharmacist said it wouldn't do me any good for that particular weekend. He said you need to take it at least 6-8 weeks before you'll be able to tell a difference. But I have been meaning to pick some up. A friend of mine sells Amway...and I can get it from him at "cost"...so I really need to do that! Nutrilite from Amway also has a really good Multi vitamin that I was looking into.

YES...ALDI is fabulous for produce etc. I do about 60-70 of my shopping there and then finish what's left at the local grocery chain. I save TONS by shopping Aldi. For a while...milk was about 1/2 price compared to the regular store! Love seeing you back here! I've been missing you!

I'm available any time...we need to build each other up, it seems like. There are lots of good websites out there to identify your best bets with eating out...you just have to decide what you will eat and stick to your decision...don't look at the menu. And I will pray that your family won't bug you about it...the hardest thing to control, IMO, is the desire to "fit in"...especially as moms, we never want to rock the boat and appear selfish...but keep rockin' it until they get it!!

I do not honestly know what it was that finally motivated me to get back on track...I had initially lost 50 pounds back in 2000-2001, but gradually put about 30 of that back on. I am a registered dietitian, so I felt somewhat professionally and morally obligated to maintain a reasonable weight. It was killing me to have given up all my cute, small jeans and other clothes, and I knew my husband was disappointed in me.

Now, I just try to concentrate on reasonable choices and portion sizes. It would be so easy, now that I am at home all day, to let boredom take over and just eat all the time (been there, done that). I just don't. I drink water whenever I can...keep a glass filled so I grab it whenever I pass. And I have NO food in my house that I shouldn't eat (except when I'm entertaining, or trying a new recipe).

I will keep in touch with you if you want, and I'm full of good ideas to keep you on the straight and narrow. Thanks for contacting me. I know you can do this.
