Water

One thing I've been trying in the past two weeks is to try to drink more water. Everyone tells you to drink a lot of water, but, somehow, even though I like water, IContinue

The Day Before WI

Tomorrow is my Wi and, for once, I'm looking forward to it! There has been a wondrous convergence of staying on plan and exercising chez moi this week and I'm loving it. I grabbing for the golden ring as the carousel goes 'round, hoping to regain my motivation and renew my progress toward reaching my goals.

I'm moving along on the C25K--half way through week three. My body is remembering, "oh yeah, this is what it feels like to keep on running, rather than walking at the fir

I'm Done

with week TWO of the C25K! Yay me! I'm enjoying running more and, as ever, the BTL nike+ challenge makes it fun. I resolve that this month I will NOT be at the bottom of the leader-loser board

DH is away for a week, but I'm managing to stay on plan, say "NO" to the munch monster, track my meals, and exercise. The biggest challenge is evening meals. It would be sooo easy to make a hot dog for Jay and then just give in to pasta, potatoes and rice, but I'm making good dinners.

Done with Week 1, Bring on Week 2

I just finished the first week of C25K. I found an awesome (free) podcast on itunes with Christian music. I have to say it was easy. Today, I added another run during the cool down walk. I'm ready for next week. I'm feeling in the groove with my plans. Nothing like a bit of halo shining to get me through lunch time with a modest cottage cheese and mandarin oranges (fat free and sugar free respectively). I've got a nice fat roasting chicken and lots of beautiful veggies that are going to meet my… Continue

Three Things Challenge

Carly, at Chubby Chicks Run Too is doing a three things challenge. Sounds like a great idea to me, so I'm doing it too. Here are three things I'm going to do differently to help me reach my goals.

1. I will complete the C25K (Couch to 5K) program. I did Week 1 Day 1 on Monday and I can do this.

2. I will not get into my 2 yr old granddaughter's M&Ms (a little stash for rewards in her goal of b

Hanging in There

It's mid-April already and it's been way too long since I posted. I'm right about where I was in Feb, weight-wise, but with the great weather, I'm starting to ratchet up my exercise. I've continued, more or less, my 3X/week runs, but there has been way more walking than running going on lately. To counteract this, I've just re-upped with the C25K plan. I found a cool, free podcast on itunes that has C25K with Christian music. Very mellow and easy to follow. Today's run on my Nike+ (day one of C2… Continue

Snow Daze!

The blizzard of the century is here and we're firmly snowed in. We have 22 inches so far (overnight) and it's predicted that it will continue to come down for another 7 hours. It has totally nixed my running--outside running is a no go, and our gym (along with every other business in the DC metro area) is locked up tight. Shoveling this heavy, wet snow is my go-to exercise in the meantime, and I'm making good friends with my Ibuprofen bottle. Actually, shoveling outside with my hubby is kind of… Continue

Do it Anyway

Today was a good day. I went to my WI and lost again--.6 pounds, for a total of 8.6 pounds gone in January. I didn't get my Wednesday run in this morning as we had 3 inches of new snow on the ground. I played Wii Tennis instead--a workout, but not as great a calorie burner as running, I'd hoped for a bit bigger loss, but I'm not going to worry about it. It'll just show up next week instead. Also, this is my third week in a row in Onederland, and I do not intend to ever stray back into "Twotervil… Continue

Are you Interested in Losing Weight? or . . . .

Are you committed to losing? That's the question for my second day of working through 100 Days of Weight Loss. Just seeing the first part of the question, I responded with an immediate yes. But, maybe that's the problem. Just being "interested" in losing weight is not a very firm relationship. If I'm just interested, I'm easily thrown off… Continue

May 11th, 2010

I just got a new book, Linda Spangle's 100 Days of Weight Loss. The subtitles are The Secret to Being Successful on ANY Diet Plan and A Daily Motivator. It's the beginning of February, and while I'm still moving ahead on my New Year's resolution, I wanted to ratchet up my motivation a notch or two and to make sure that, this time, I reach… Continue

I'm lovin' it!

I'm a daily weigher--a "scale hopper" as some call it here. For me, it's important to weigh myself daily. I know from long experience that if I avoid weighing myself (as I did the last couple months of 2009) I'm putting on pounds. It's a head-in-the-sand kind of avoidance of what I know must be happening. I read that in a study of people who have lost and kept off weight for at least 5 years (yes, that study, I can't remember its name), anyway, I read that successful losers who kept off t… Continue

WI today. . .onward and DOWNward!

Yes, the scale again confirms what I've known all along. Eating wisely and exercise are the dynamic duo in producing consistent happy results at my weekly WI. Down .6 pounds today--that's 8 pounds in four weeks. I'm hoping that these 28 days of good habits are starting to supplant some of the sloppy habits I slipped into during the last few months of last year. I'm feeling confident and strong. I can DO this!… Continue

Decisions, Good and Bad

Today I overate. I was babysitting my youngest grandkids. I took them along on some late morning errands and, with the traffic and the ravenous kids when we finally got home, my own lunch was very late. A quick perusal of the fridge showed me two choices. Either ff cottage cheese and fruit or leftover chicken cacciatore from last night. I was hungry and feeling deprived so I chose the chicken. Not such a bad choice--it is a WW Core recipe-- but there were two leftover pieces and I made the (bad)… Continue

WI Today, Wowzers!

All kinds of good things happened today. I got myself out for a 3 mile run even tho' I didn't feel like it. Then I went to my WI . . . and . . .I lost 3 (three!) pounds. I do not have big numbers at the scale, so 3 is great. This is the third week in my renewed effort to reach my goal. I had been in an awful slump for over two months where I gained every single week. Now I have three consecutive weeks with nice solid losses each week, to total 7.4 pounds. Yes, I'll take it! Also, with today's lo… Continue

Musings on the day before WI--Tuesday Temptations

Why?? Why is the day before my WI always the toughest day to stay OP? I've been good all week long. I've stayed within my 35 point allowance (so far), tracked online, exercised every day, met my goal of having OP lunches every day, drunk my water, and my morning scale check shows me that I'm losing nicely. So why, right now, at 9:30 am on the day before my WI, do I feel like making a batch of cookies? You know what that means. "Making a batch of cookies" is code for binge eating. Sample while I… Continue

It Wasn't a Fluke!!

My 2.6 loss last week, wasn't a fluke! My new determination is working. I lost again today, 1.8 pounds. I am finally on the way down from the high point of my seemingly unstoppable gain toward my original weight. I feel so good about this that I've decided to collect the 5 pound stars at my meeting. I know I earned them before, but I'm working hard to peel those pounds off my body (again) and I'm claiming the credit. As of today I have lost a bit more than 15 pounds from my original weight. Yea… Continue

Dare I say it . . .?

I think I'm getting back in the groove! I've had 10 days in a row where I've stuck to my plan. I've tracked my eating (at WW online) and exercised every day. I've been to the gym, played Wii Tennis (the new EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis is so much better than the basic game that comes with the Wii), and run in the snow. I'm scheduled to run tomorrow in the brittle cold we're having and I'm gonna do it! And did I mention that I lost 2.6 at my meeting last Wednesday? I'm most happy about my abilit… Continue

Here we go again . . .

Another new year and another beginning. Christmas is past, the kids and grandkids have gone home and the tree is de-decked, if not yet put away. I'm in the middle of a yucky cold, but beginning to feel strong again about recommitting to my erstwhile healthy lifestyle. I have gained a lot since the end of summer, I'm still down from my begining in Mar 08, but I have a lot of ground to (re)cover. I went to WW last week (another gain) but have been tracking and staying OP since Wednesday. My short… Continue
