I finally got on the ball and expanded my google reader to include something besides just school and added my favorite health and fitness blogs and sites. Now whenever I’m keeping up with my research, I’ll get a dose of motivation too! In fact, it motivated me to do something this morning that I haven’t in a long time!
I went out for my first run since my last 5k (back on September 29th)! Part of the reason I stopped was due to problems with my arch - I was silly and ran in worn out shoes for too long so that even once I got new ones it still hurt. But I also fell in love with swimming and got sidetracked. And I also wasn’t motivated now that the rainy season has started. But today I was! I was debating starting at week 4 of couch to 5k or something, but decided to get out there and see how I felt. Well, I wasn’t great, but was much better than expected! I don’t think I need to go back to intervals at all, I’m just going to keep my runs short for now and slowly build them up. It felt great to get back out there though.
Then, I returned home and made myself a delicious impromptu lunch using some leftover ingredients. I sauteed some green pepper with a little garlic, mixed in half a Tofurky Italian sausage, and some pasta sauce. I served it over a slice of yummy multigrain bread and topped it off with a little parmesan - a pretty darn great 5 point lunch!
And then (see, it keeps getting better), I was feeling bold and I tried on my skinny jeans. The ones I’ve held onto for the last 7 months hoping I’d be able to wear again some day. Well, today I was able to zip those babies right back up! Granted, there’s a bit of muffin top still there so I won’t actually wear them out yet, but considering I couldn’t get them past my thighs 2 months ago, I’m pretty damn proud! Now that I’ve lost almost 11 pounds, I really am seeing the changes in my body. Quite proud of myself :). My original WW goal was to lose 10 pounds before going back to the Midwest on December 16th. Now that I’ve kicked that goal’s butt, I’m thinking I could possibly hit my 10% goal by New Year’s!!!
The only downer today was the stress that comes with the last week of school…2 papers and a presentation due tomorrow. That and I started feeling kind of icky - hopefully I’m not getting sick (which wouldn’t surprise me with the stress).
Oh, and I found the BEST way to keep myself from snacking while I watch TV, which is one of my worst eating habits - I taught myself how to knit! I watched a few youtube videos and I’m already 1/8 of the way to completing my first scarf! Keeps my hands occupied so they can’t deliver food to my mouth. Wish I would have thought of this sooner!
