Blog to Lose

No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!

Now when I was 4 yrs old, I was hit by a legally-blind drunk driver and spent about 4 months in the hospital. I was finally sent home in a wheelchair with doctors telling my mom that I would never walk again. Well my mom became the best physical therepist I know of...and no my mom didn't have any special training as she never went to college, or even finish high school. She went by the old saying "u use it or u lose it", so she made sure I didn't lose the use of my legs. Course later on, she claims I learned to walk again just so I could walk all over her.

But without my mother's determination & her ability to ignore every doctor that told her that she was wasting her time by excercising my legs....I would not be walking around this canyon.
I tried a few different times going down into the canyon last year, but never made it to the bottom (my knees killed). But I am still hoping to get to the bottom for my birthday in March.

There are many ways to increase your daily steps. Use your imagination and come up with your own list. I'm not saying walk a 10-mile marathon your first day. I have about 2 months till my birthday, which means 2 months of training for my miracle hike.

Here's what I will be doing for the next 2 months:

Walking the dogs ( I walk dogs at the kennel)
Using the stairs alot in my building
If the weather is good~walk to store/post office instead of taking shuttle bus
Jumping rope~got this idea from a tour bus driver
Window shop
Plan a walking meeting (or start a walking club)
Walk over to visit a neighbor
Get outside to walk around the school field (school playgrounds are in-expensive gyms)
Finally trying out my Latin Dance Mix excercise DVD
I also ordered a pedometer from amazon.com,

"The number one reason people stop exercising is lack of time.(HUH?? Don't we all have the same 24 hours in a day?) Are you catching up on phone calls to friends or family? Then walk in place or do some squats. For yard work, choose a push mower over a power one...or a shovel instead of a snowblower
