Farewell Scale! I will NOT miss you!

I am still thinking about putting my scale in a cupboard and only weighing in like once a month/two months. I don't know if I completely want to let go. But, I think I need to. And, I think I can. A scale may help some people. But it no longer helps me. It inhibits me.


I am confident that the way I am eating now is the right way.

I am confident that the way I am exercising now is right for me.

I am eating today like I want to eat everyday of my life. So, my body will naturally find a balance.

I am able to measure my success through many ways: little victories, looser pants/shirts, feelings/reason, etc...

I don't need a scale to tell me I'm doing well.

I don't need a scale to indicate my level of health (or my BMI).

I don't need a scale to interfere with my feelings of health, accomplishment, or success!

I don't need a scale to indicate when my body is readjusting.


Well, I guess I will let it go. Farewell scale!

My food journal for yesterday and today so far:

6/29/09

6:45- Berry smoothie + 1 egg..............................~300 cal
20 min walk, 40 min bike, 30 min strength train arms... motivated yesterday
10:30-Grd turkey + spaghetti sauce
........Yummy bean soup
........cantaloupe................................................~400 cal
2:00- popcorn
........grapefruit
........2 slices ham.............................................~350 cal
6:00-Beef with broccoli
.......Salad (spinach, onion, tomatoes, almonds)
.......Soy icecream w/ blueberries and nectarine...~750 cal

.........................................................total ~1800 cal


6/30/09

6:30- Berry smoothie + steel cut oats.................~350 cal
20 min walk, 30 min strength train legs
10:30- Kashi Dk. Chocolate bar + coconut
..........pistacios................................................~300 cal
2:00- popcorn, grapefruit, turkey + sauce............~400 cal
5:30- chicken chili + sauteed cabbage
........soy icecream + nectarine..........................~600 cal

I'm glad you have a plan with your scale. It looks like you made some good healthy choices. I did find some chocolate treats. I got some sugar free chocolate syrup to eat with my Breyer's fat free icecream in a small waffle bowl. It's a pretty good 2 point treat.

Yay Tanie!!! I hate not knowing if I gained or not but I think depending on that can drive you nuts! I'd rather go just by how I look and feel and check in on the scale once in awhile but that NEED to know makes me neurotic lol. I love your affirmations, good going hun!

Go you! It's so hard not to feel bad when the scale shows a number you're not happy with. I'm glad you see that being healthy isn't about the number you see!

Good for you, Tanie! Throwing away the scale is a great victory. The numbers game can really suck the fun part out of weight loss.

yeh, I agree... scales are lame...there are much better markers of health... I think tracking calories and being more active is more than enough monitoring of yourself. Good luck--it is a tough habit to break :~)
