Oh Florida. It was everything I imagined and much much more. We left Christmas day and drove to Cincinnati to see David's family which was awesome, he has six little brother and sisters 1 year-14 years old. I love them, I love kids in general. Then we drove farther down into Kentucky and crashed there for the night. 26th we drove ALL day long & made it to Valdosta, GA where we rested for the night. Saturday we arrived, David and I had the ocean view room and it was gorgeous! It was high 70's, low 80's the ENTIRE time we were there. Anyway, Saturday we had dinner at the pier & relaxed. Sunday we spent all day in the sun enjoying the weather.
Monday we went to the Brevard Zoo & got to feed the giraffes and the lory parakeets - that was AWESOME! I love zoos & we always go to a different one when we go on vacation, Brevard Zoo gets an A+++ from me! Tuesday was Magic Kingdom, I love it there but NOT at the this time of the year. It was insanely busy & I get really claustrophobic in those types of situations. I enjoyed it but not as much as I would have liked. THEN David took me to "Beach Jewelers" which is a little mom and pop jewelry store there and he bought me a diamond ring for Christmas! A promise ring so to speak. It's gorgeous! 1/4 carat set in 14 carat gold. :-] I could not be happier.
Wednesday was Discovery Cove, now let me tell you this - if you go to Florida for vacation I HIGHLY recommend Discovery Cove. It was an incredible experience, one David and I decided EVERYONE should enjoy at some point in their lives. It was $615 for the two of us so definitely pricey but you get your money's worth and then some. The scenery is gorgeous, you get free breakfast and a free gourmet lunch with all the snacks your little heart's desire all day long and for those 21 and older you get all the free beer you want. We had breakfast, I bought a dress, we snorkeled with the fish & the stingrays in the coral reef then we stood in the sting ray pool as they floated all around us and we got to feel them, they're real slimy! After that we had our swim with the dolphins, about a 30 minute experience and definitely amazing. I can't even describe how cool it was. Then we spent the rest of the day snorkeling, enjoying the sun and floating down the 85 degree tropical "river" which runs through the free-flight aviary so you're swimming with the birds. Around 3:30 we took showers and headed home.
Thursday was cloudy & windy so we shopped all day. And Friday we began our journey to Atlanta where we stayed the night. Saturday morning we hit up the Georgia Aquarium (I also highly recommend going there) It was by far, the COOLEST aquarium I have ever been to. I loved it. After that we drove all the way to my mom's & stayed the night there. I drove Sue's car from my mom's to our place. It was icy, we spun out in the highway, hit a guardrail & had to file a police report but everyone was fine & the only damage was to the spare tire thank goodness. Of course it would happen to ME in someone else's car.
My eating? Spectacular! I traded in fried for steamed veggies and hashbrowns for fresh fruit and the list goes on and on! Of course I indulged, hello it's vacation, but I kept it under control and I don't think I gained any (guess we'll see tomorrow). Definitely one of the best vacations I have ever taken, and the boyfriend enjoyed it so much he decided we're going to MEXICO next year!! I've always wanted to go there! So I will try to get caught up on everyone's lives today but work has been quite busy so if not today, tomorrow. Hope all is well and never forget to keep smiling!
