Maintenance is still going well for me. I am still surprised that that is the case though. I have never been this successful in my weight loss attempts before and it has me scratching my head. I can't quite put my finger on what switch was flipped that has made this time, THE TIME. I think the biggest motivation for me right now is how good I feel. I have a lot of energy and body feels more fit than ever before. Which amazes me. I have never been into fitness before. I think I suddenly realized that this body is the only one I get and I am going to make the most of it!
Today I had a bit of a shock (in a good way) on the scale. I am still weighing myself almost daily just to keep myself accountable. Friday is still my "official" weigh-in day but today when I got on the scale it said 132.9. I nearly fell over. I haven't seen 132 on the scale since my freshman year of college. That's just crazy. And I have no idea why the number dropped down so much. I know it won't stay down there (especially since Thanksgiving is on Thursday) but it's nice to know that I can get there. My plan is still to lose another 4-5 pounds after the holidays but until then, I just want to maintain under 135 which I am doing.
There has been a lot of talk on different food blogs, including Roni's Weigh, about how to tackle all the food temptations on Thanksgiving. My approach is pretty much the same as always. I am planning to enjoy myself and try a little of all the things I like. I'm not much of a stuffing fan so I usually skip that but I do love mashed potatoes so I will indulge in them. My family also makes delicious homemade rolls so I will have one and savor it. Normally we have a lot of hors d'ouevres but this year we are just having one which is going to be a saving grace for me. I haven't met a finger food I don't like!
My biggest change for this year's Thanksgiving is that I plan to get a really good workout in before I head over to help my mom set up. I am also planning to workout everyday this week to help offset some of my indulgences on Thursday. I am also doing my best to stay away from any extra snacking this week as well. Hopefully, with my plan in place, I will have a successful and enjoyable holiday!
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
