A friend of mine took me out for lunch today. We went to Starbucks; it's our favorite place to go and a place we don't frequent often because let's face it, pretty pricey for what you get.
Anywho, she was treating me out for my birthday (which was a couple of weeks ago!), but today is the first chance we had to go to lunch together. Now, I had my handy dandy WW ruler with me so I could make the BEST sandwich choice possible. And she showed me this Chicken Chipotle sandwich. I said, "No thank you, it has a lot of calories and I'm really trying to watch it (she knows this and is an advocate of my WW journey). Yet she says to me, "OH COME ON! It's delicious, it's something different, and it's your birthday! Splurge a little."
I still said no, really, thank you and kept looking at the other sandwiches. But she picks up the sandwich and says , "Get this one - it's really good!" Don't misunderstand, she wasn't being pushy. She just really enjoyed this particular sandwich and she thought I would like it. So I calculated it and it was 7 points - more than I would spend on my lunch and especially on a sandwich. Yet rather than putting it back and looking for something else, I took the sandwich. And of course had a grande skinny vanilla latte for 3 points. WELL, when I get back to work I double check the sandwich and it was actually EIGHT POINTS! So I had an 11 point lunch, but I only get 19 points in a day. OUCH! I have 5 points left for dinner, no flex left. I'm gonna have to run my butt off tonight so I can eat a decent dinner! By the way, the sandwich was OUTSTANDING! LOL!
It's just one meal - it will be okay. And I am in control and that's what matters most.
