Blog to Lose

No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!

Ladies and gentlemen, would you mind giving me hand?

I’ve been thinking about all those things that get in the way of me reaching my goal weight and I thought I’d reach out into this community to see if you can help me find some answers.

First on my list of excuses as I step on to the scales is “I’m sorry, I’ve been so busy this week I’ve just not had the time to put me a healthy me first”.

This week is a great example; it’s only Tuesday and I’m already struggling to be prepared on the food front and get my exercise plans completed. Why choosing the healthy option take up so much time?

These are some of things I’m using successfully on the food front:

1. Prepare meals in advance so you know what you’re going to eat that evening as you roll in from work.
2. Have a grab and run breakfast option available
3. Prepare your healthy choices packed lunch the night before
4. Keep something in your bag you know you can eat if your plans suddenly change.

Can you help me on the exercise front? I’ve missed two exercise appointments this week because work is so crazy.

I’d planned to get to the gym at 7.30 am on Monday but my boss asked me to help with something at work; and today I was home so late I missed my Aqua Aerobics class.

Any ideas?

It sounds like you had real life reasons that have gotten you off schedule...I guess that is "just life"...I would say take it a One Day at a Time approach...plan ahead each day - how in "that day" you will squeeze in some exercise...even on a day you might get off schedule...have a before bedtime routine of crunches, lunges, yoga, stretching - "something" for your body to recover and relax a bit from the day's demands. Then the next day, get right back on your routine...You know what to do...accept you just got busy and find alternatives to do "something" even on the craziest days...and those days..you might just need extra sleep not exercise! Take Care.

First of all thank you for your comments reguarding protein! I am going to increase my protein today and see if it helps..thanks again! Now, on the exercise front...this sounds cliche but find something your really like doing..this makes exercising easier. Also, try and schedule it in at the beginning of the week, for the entire week. Maybe this means doing it at the same time each day, or working through a particular grueling work week....but by scheduling the whole weeks worth of exercise, you have a better chance of sticking to it. Yes, things can come up unexpectedly but try to stick to your schedule and thus creating a routine....it will get easier! Good Luck!

I have to exercise during my lunch or it just doesn't happen. Also, I have a co-worker that does it with me that really helps. I know if I didn't have her to keep me going, I would think of a lot of other things to do. I just started doing Jillian Michael's 30 day shred DVD, which only takes 20 minutes and it is very simple to follow, but a very effective workout. Hope this helps.

If you miss a workout at the gym, it doesn't mean you can't do something at home...jumping jacks during commercial breaks....sit ups/crunches/leg lifts/ etc.....just go for 30 minutes and at least you have put SOME physical activity into your day!

Any possibility of working out in the mornings before work? I don't do that on week days when I work, but I do on weekends. I know if I put it off until the afternoon I won't go.
