No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!

So yesterday I tried quinoa for the first time. It was a good experience, but at the same time there were some drawbacks. Here's a pros and cons list:
Pros:
-A core food
-High in fiber
-Great source of minerals and an antioxidant
-Very filling
-Good texture
-Quick and easy to make
Cons:
-Expensive ($4/375g)
-Has a slightly bitter aftertaste, didn't notice this once I mixed it with corn
-If given the choice between this or brown rice I would likely choose brown rice--purely based on the taste. Quinoa tastes ok, but the after taste is not appealing; the only way around this is to mix it with other foods so you can no longer taste it.
Overall I would rate it as a 6.5/10. I would buy it again, but only if I could find a more affordable version. Next time I would mix it into a dish instead of serving it on its own, maybe in a salad or something.
What are your experiences with this food? Did I just get an off batch with the after taste?

I didn't notice an after taste when I tried it a couple of weeks ago, and I have yet to try Roni's recipe that uses apples....but it sounds good. I did find it very filling, and liked it best when mixed with veggies and chicken....but not when I made it into a breakfast using blueberries and bananas....I'll use it again...so far only tried red quinoa but I have a box of white to try....the grain size for the white is much smaller than the red....and I might try it in a veggie soup...we'll see. You are right about the cost...YIKES!
