Blog to Lose

No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!

Time and time again we find ourself starting right where we were last week when we vowed that we would start making changes to lead a healthier life. You weighed in, and you were either pumped or pissed and either one made you determined to do even better the next week...except that the next week comes and it's time for weigh in and your sitting right where you were the week before!

So..What's Stopping You?

I'm sure we can all find a million and one excuses as to why we didn't have a good week...

TOM
bad week at work
had a fight with the spouse
kids were sick
you were sick
birthday party
a million holidays
superbowl
going out for dinner
you forgot to pack your gym bag
the gym was too busy
it was raining or snowing outside
busy with homework
meeting ran late
dinner took too long
not enough sleep the night before
you just didn't have time
the fridge/pantry wasn't properly stocked

oh the list could go on and on but the fact of the matter is that the ONLY thing that is really stopping you is YOU!

YOU decide what happens in your day. YOU decide what food enters your mouth. YOU decided if you will make it a priority in your day to get in some exercise.

YOU YOU YOU!

So don't play the victim. Don't rant off about a million excuses as to why you didn't reach your goal for that week...because the bottom line is that YOU didn't put into it what you said you would.

No shame in the game, just pick your ass up where you left off and get moving!!!

disclaimer:
this is in no way intended towards any one person in particular. hell I have my own days and weeks. last night I didn't get much sleep, I had a terrible stomach ache this afternoon, and after work I was sitting at the computer looking at the blowing blustery snow outside already thinking...maybe I'll just skip the gym tonight and do a workout video at home. fine and dandy but then when and what is the next excuse that I come up with?

so so true. i often blame schoolwork, but the fact is that schoolwork itself does not have a food component! :)

How awesome that you got mentioned in Thursdays Thoughts! And I'm glad you did because I missed this post. And it is suuuuch a good one. So many times before I've thought "I hope I do good tomorrow" or "I hope I don't go out to eat tomorrow" as if it's something NOT in my control! The actual number of our weight might not be in control but our health and fitness IS. Thanks for posting this!

So true! I like to blame the Boyfriend for encouraging me to eat bad things, but really, he doesn't hold me down and force them into my mouth, now does he?

Very good post! Made me put my butt in check just reading it ... I truly am the only one who has control over MY weight loss and the excuses aren't going to get it done... thanks for reminding me of that! :)

Agreed. I don't know how many times I've talked myself out of doing what I said I was going to do by using some lame excuse. It all falls back on me and there is no one else to blame. I love this post!

Hit the nail on the head with this post Kari! I almost skipped Body Pump last night because I didn't get hardly any sleep the night before! My inner voice was saying..."stay home and rest tonight, you deserve it". But at the last minute I got my ass off the couch and packed a bag quick and headed to class! I felt AWESOME when I got home. Thank goodness I didn't let that "excuse" keep me home!
