Well, I'm a little scared to start posting this, but I know in reading Roni's pages that this will help keep me accountable. My hope is that it will also help keep me going in the right direction and maybe even a few less setbacks.
Well, today is May 7, 2008 and I have officially been on Weight Watchers for 51 weeks. I started out weighing in at 240 pounds. On my 5'4" body, that made me obese. I knew I was heavy, but I never thought of myself as obese. It took my mother, who has been very overweight all of my life, going into the hospital with heart problems for me to decide that I needed to do something. In the last 8 years, I've tried all kinds of fad diets, but I never stuck to anything. I always wanted the weight to just disappear, to fall off easily, and it never did, so I would just give up. Well, with me turning 30 last July, my mom going into the hospital, and desperately wanting to give my husband the body I had when we got married, I finally decided to start Weight Watchers. Within the first month, I lost 15 pounds. To me, that was falling off!! It was something that gave me results I could actually see. When I started last year, I was wearing a size 20 (very tight 20) jeans. As of today, I'm proud to say, I'm in a size 12!! My weight has gone from 240 pounds to 186.6! My shoe size has even dropped!! My little fat feet actually look pretty good these days! I was noticing last night, that my legs look pretty good, too! I will be wearing shorts this year!! I haven't worn shorts since I was pregnant with my 8 year old in 1999. That's some long hot summers here in Missouri!
In a nut shell, I'm very happy with what I've accomplished. I feel that I'm working in the right direction to become a happy, healthy, fit young mom again! My 13 year old wants to start jogging with me....well, I see that in my future. That makes me so happy, I can't even explain it.
I will be updating my weight after my weekly meetings, which are on Thursdays. I won't be posting a weight this week because I'm going on the field trip with my 8 year old to The Butterfly Palace and Rainforest Adventure in Branson. He's so excited about it, as am I. I'll post some pics when I get back....if I can figure out how:)
