So here I sit in my un-air-conditioned NYC apartment (well, practically as the building does not have central air) starving and contemplating my well earned carb up twenty four hours from this moment.
Tomorrow I will meet with the Men’s health model editor, shoot with to photographers and then chow down on some serious carbs.
But in order to bring the water out of my skin, my diet for the last three days has consisted of fibrous veggies and meat of various types. Throw in the lack of cable, internet, and the fact that low carb dieting saps both concentration and mood and you get this long ramble.
In all seriousness, I had my first photoshoot on Sunday and my body looked great. I am really pleased with the way the shoot turned out—except for one thing:
In my carb depleted haste, I had forgotten to shave my chest or buy shaving cream for the shoot. As a result, the photographed gave me the option of shaving my chest with nothing but a razor and seawater (beach shoot) or heading for land without shooting.
I choose option A, and I suppose the photographer anticipated the seawater would soothe the inevitable razor burn which polka dotted my chest. After a touch up with makeup however (which subsequently increased the “burn”) we shot for around four hours and everything came out well.
The hardest part of this entire process have definitely been the two days (Mon/Tues) between shooting. In this state I am very tempted to hang up my convictions and head for the bakery, Dunkin Donuts or other delicious aromas which blanket every NYC street corner.
But this adversity will only make me stronger and help me to appreciate this process thereafter. I want to thank everyone for their support and I will check in on Thursday when my mind has returned.
