4th day of vacation and all is well

Vacation is going very well so far. Saturday was mostly spent in the car--9 hour drive--but at least we had good weather. I packed a cooler with jicama, cucumbers, and cherry tomatoes to snack on. We stopped for lunch at Wendy's and I have a huge NSV to declare. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and a side salad. DH even ordered a side ceasar salad. Well, they accidentally gave us fries too. Just goes to show how few people actually order the healthier sides! I did not eat the fries. I stole one of DH's, but that was it. It was almost a tearful good-bye as we threw them out, but I did it! When we finally arrived, the menu was set for BBQ. I had a little, not on a bun, and was within my DPA, without even using WPA!

On day 2, DH and I got up early to walk on the beach. 1 hour of moderate exercise under my belt felt fantastic. I love walking on the beach. The sand makes it a little bit harder, but I love listening to the waves. I had my iPod earbuds in one ear so I could listen to the ocean with the other. For lunch I made a wrap with Oscar Meyer honey roasted turkey, honey mustard, lettuce on a 0 point tortilla for both MIL and myself. It was very yummy and she loved it too. The set menu was chicken salad and potato salad, but MIL was in charge of this meal. She set aside some of the chicken and potatoes and made them with FF mayo for us--a Godsend! I actually had trouble eating all my DPA that day.

Yesterday, MIL and I walked on the beach together. I was walking faster than she was, but she said to go on ahead of me. I kept circling back so the distance between us wasn't too big. When we got back, we had a nice conversation and I let her know we are trying. DH was surprised I let the cat out of the bag, but I figure it's only fair since my parents know we are trying too. It might also explain the bed creaks this week. We try to be quiet or do it when no one else is around, but... I'd be so cool to know that our future child was conceived while on vacation. Let's not get ahead of ourselves though...Dinner last night was ham and the world famous macaroni and cheese and equally famous pound cake for dessert. I had only a bite of the mac and cheese and pound cake. Thank goodness I had the self control to limit it to that. I think it helped that I ate an entire package of frozen veggies up in our condo before going to the main condo for dinner. I might do the same thing tonight before going out. The vegetable options might be limited or non-existant.

This morning both DH and I were too tired to walk, so we are postponing our walk to a leisurely stroll later. It won't be moderate exercise, but at least it's movement. For my weight, 80 minutes of low gets me 4 APs while 60 min of moderate is also 4. I think I can stroll for an extra 20 minutes this afternoon so I can continue to relax this morning. That's what vacation is for anyway, right! Tonight is our only night we eat out, so I may use some WPA's, but we'll see. Unfortunately, we are going to the same mediocre restaurant we always go to. The new generation (meaning DH and his cousins and their spouses) don't get a say in the matter and it would be incredibly rude to go somewhere else. We are here to spend time as a family and we can go out for a good dinner back home. I'll probably get some overcooked grilled fish, but at least the company will be good. Well, I have to get back to enjoying my vacation, but I'll check back in later this week. I hope everyone is having a great week!

Congrats to you for eating well on your vacation. Unfortunately on my vacation, I had an eating free for all. It's good to read about your enjoying your vacation and also eating wisely.
