About Me:
I’m a 32 year old mother and wife. I live in a very active household, and I want to lose weight and improve my health to keep up with my husband and son!

My husband is in the Navy, and the military ensures that our life is never dull. We are constantly on the go, rarely in one place for more than two years. We currently live overseas and will return to the States this summer. My husband is also a very fast runner, doing about 2 marathons a year and countless other races. He really inspires me.

Our son is a toddler and quickly taking after Daddy activity-wise! He is NEVER still and really keeps me on my toes. He loves to go running with Mommy, and from his baby jogger will constantly repeat, “Go! Go! Go!” which keeps me smiling.

I have struggled with my weight for a LONG time! I remember starting my first diet in 7th grade. I was not overweight at all, but I was a ballet dancer with poor self esteem, that was convinced I needed to be “skinny”. I have been on a roller coaster of diets and weight ever since.

I actually never carried any extra weight until the infamous “Freshman 15″ which in my case was more like 25. I’ve taken the weight off many times only to gain it back, plus a few. The only time I remember being happy with my body was when I was pregnant with my son, which is also the only time I hadn’t dieted in 20 years. I remember feeling so confident in my skin during pregnancy, I knew the weight had a purpose, and I felt so free.

I am determined to get to a healthy weight this time for me and my family. My mother has been on a diet for as long as I can remember. She’s always been within a healthy weight range, but has never been happy with herself. I have seen her follow one ridiculous plan after another, never being “successful” in her own eyes. I don’t want that to be my legacy, I don’t want to pass on that image of zero self esteem and self hatred to my children. I don’t want my family to have memories of Mommy ALWAYS being on a diet. My goal is to instead pass on the legacy of a HAPPY Mommy.

Eeek! Another month has passed.....and thoughts on the "nothing nibbles"

and I've been missing again, oops! Well, we've moved into our house finally, and I LOVE it! We receive our final shipment on Thursday, of things that have been in storage for the last two years, should be a surprise to see what's in there. Our little guy turns two today!!!! His birthday has me thinking: I have lost all the baby weight, and actually had it all off about 18 months ago. But then for the last 18 months I have been gaining and losing the same 8 pounds, like a human yo-yo. And shocke… Continue

Hi Friends, I've missed you!

The long summer of travel is almost at a close! Last time I wrote we were about to embark on a car trip to my grandparents house (where there is no internet!). We had a great trip, the little guy was wonderful in the car, and I had a fabulous visit with my family in Colorado for almost two weeks. I am now in California finally! We've seen our new house, it has a great backyard for the little guy, and I think we are going to love living here. We leave on Tuesday for our last trip of the summer t… Continue

Road Trip!

The time has finally come to return to the real world.....almost! After almost two months in Montana with my family, the little guy, my mom and I are heading out tomorrow to drive to Colorado to visit more family. Once that trip is over we'll drive to Nevada to pick up Daddy and settle in California for the next couple of years. I'm excited about this drive, we're going to hit Yellowstone on the way and I haven't been there in years. I'm excited to hear my little guys reaction when he sees all… Continue

Natural beauty, and the nature of my scale

We had a really fun week! It ended with a little kick to the gut, but that can't diminish the fun I had. First my husband and I got a night alone while my parents watched the little guy. We drove up to an old fire watch tower here in MT. It's atop a 7,000 foot peak, it's all alone up there with stunning views, not a human or man made structure around for miles. Gorgeous. When we returned raving about that trip, my father mentioned that Glacier National Park had just fully opened the road for t… Continue

I'm back in the driver's seat!

We have been working on potty training and curbing some discipline issues here on the home-front and I have realized, I am no different than my toddler. I need discipline, rules, consistency, consequences and rewards. I also think I need a Mommy :) Ha, ha, but seriously, I do need to be accountable to someone other than myself!!! I guess that's part of the reason many of us blog here. I have been doing WW online as I am traveling all summer and it fits best with my schedule. I don't plan… Continue

Hi Runmom! I'm a new runner and I saw your post on the run it forum and wondered if you and I are training for the same 1/2. I live in California too and it just so happens that I am about 15 min from a Navy base (my grandfather is a 28 year Navy vet, former Captain of LNAS). I'm running the 2 Cities on November 9th. It will be my first 1/2. I'm nursing a nasty case of anterior tibialis tendonitis right now but still elliptical training!

Anyway.. good luck to you!

I'm so glad the "extra degree" message resonated with you as well! Hopefully it will help you into a great WI this week! Best of luck!

THANK YOU! Although it hasn't been so enjoyable over the past week due to feeling sick and such. I have a couple of trips planned and am scared to go on them for fear of being sick.

I haven't told many people, but felt I needed to post it on here so that everyone didn't think that I disappeared or something.

I'll keep everyone updated and let them know that I am alive!!!!

Yes, I know how it is being short. As I've told others' in the past... I am 32 years old and don't think I'll be getting any taller. The beauty of all of this is that I firmly believe that this is a lifestyle change for me, not just a diet!!! The only think I think that could possibly 'set me back' would be if I were to get pregnant. I believe the consequences of that would be far worth the reward. We may have to do fertility too in order for me to get pregnant. I am just taking life one day at a time and trying to enjoy every minute of it!

Our exchange student is from Nara. She will be leaving us next month, on the 22nd, but has been with us for a total of 10 months. She has grown so much, especially with her English skills. We have taken her to many places including the U.P. (in Michigan), Mackinac Island, a cruise to Mexico, Chicago, and next month we'll be taking her (and possibly a German student) to Niagara Falls. She is truly spoiled!

My husband works for a Japanese automotive supplier and has been to Japan twice. We have friends there and I am sure, in the future, I will visit too!

Where will you move when you return to the states?

You already look great! You look like you are MUCH taller than myself. Unfortunately, I am only 5'1.5", so I have to definitely take off more weight. I am satisfied with myself at this current time, but determined to continue with my progress, so long as the PCOS doesn't allow me to lose weight. NO WAY will that happen!
