Profile Information

About Me:
I am currently a senior in college studying Early Childhood Psychology. I have no idea what I want to do with that when I “grow up” but I am sure I can manage to find something! Through my whole life I have always been the bigger girl in class and I hated it since as far back as I can remember.
At the beginning of 2008 I decided it was my time to start losing weight. A friend and I talked about it and decided it was time. I worked out six times a week if not more and ate a low fat diet/weight watchers. I never attended a meeting, but had the support of a friend, boyfriend and many other loves ones. Starting at 234 pounds on January 1, 2008 and weighing in at 189 on May 6 2008 I thought that I had GREAT amounts of success and really was proud. The best part was that my friends and family from back home had not seen me for FIVE months so their reactions were so wonderful. Then came summer and well I stopped going to the gym six days a week and dropped down to about two maybe three days a week. I stopped watching what I was eating so closely but was always thinking about it in the back of my head. Needless to say I am the EXACT same weight as I was back in May….189. Not too bad however that is a lot of valuable time that I wasted by being lazy and not taking care of my body. But now it is the start of my last year in college and its time for me to get my butt back to the gym and my eating under control!
Plan of Choice:
Low Fat, High Fiber, Weight Watchers
Workout Philiosophy:
I'm a walk-a-holic, I only exercise because I have to

Thanksgiving catch up and rambling

Wow I cant believe how time flies between each time that I am here!!! I have been doing rather well with all aspects of life. My thanksgiving was wonderful, I spent it with my boyfriends family. So I felt a bit uncomfortable when we were eating and there for it prevented me from OVERLOADING my plate AND going for seconds. So the actual meal at Thanksgiving went well, however it seemed like Friday and Saturday were not as great, because I just snacked on lots of random food. Oh well over and don… Continue

Its almost Thanksgiving break!

Hello everyone... Things are wonderful right now. I had a fabulous weekend with two great friends. We did some shopping and I got a new Marmot vest to wear on those days that actually get above 32 degrees, as well as a cute North Face shirt. So that was exciting. It feels so wonderful to actually be able to walk in any old store and KNOW their clothes will fit you even if it is a stinking XL. Any accomplishment is better than none at all. After shopping we went and made a nice dinner and had so… Continue

Crabby and stressed out...

FOR NO GOOD REASON. I have no idea why I am so crabby today or stressed out. It all started when my resume wouldnt format correctly then I realized I didnt have resume quality paper and from there it began to spiral down. SORRY for being a downer.. Positive note went to the doctor he doesnt think it is a sinus infection at all, just the common winter cold that will need to take its course, he said he could give me meds but they really wouldnt do much other than psychologically make me think the… Continue

Not feeling so good, and its been snowing for the past 3 days!

Welcome to winter, it has been knocking on my door for the past three days. This week has been pretty laid back which I cant complain about. Last night (Wednesday) I went to a thanksgiving dinner at a local church that is put on for the college student. It was pretty good I have no idea how the nutritional situation was, but I only had one plate and NO dessert!! So I guess that isnt too bad! Wednesday morning I woke up not feeling too great. I think I have some serious sinus issues going on. I… Continue

Oh I hear you. I am 3 hours from all those stores. I don't think there is even a Trader Joes in Nebraska. I hadn't heard of it until I got into blogging. I live in a town of 400 people.....very rural area. Good luck with the jeans shopping!

To be honest, I kind of skipped ahead on the running program as I went along, so maybe you can look at it and start a few weeks in. I know they recommend to start slow and build slow, but I know sometimes you feel like you aren't getting any good out of it if you are already at that level. I am definitely not an expert...just giving my personal opinion.
After I did that program, I went on runnersworld.com and printed off a custom training program....up to 5 miles. You can train for 5 miles, 1/2 marathon, or full marathon. That is always fun....I like it just because it gives me a schedule to follow (and I am a big planner).
Thank you for your compliment!

Love the quote at the top of your page. I happened to see your comment to Robyn regarding the C25k, and thought I would give my opinion. I did the program 1 1/2 years ago, and it really did work. I was NEVER a runner. I started in oh...late March or early April. I wasn't through with the program in May, but our town had a 5k, so I signed up thinking I could always walk part of it. Well I ran the entire thing...and in awesome time. I highly recommend the C25k program to build your body up to that level. I would do it 3 times/week, but then still do some kind of cardio on the off days. Usually walking.

Hey Michele...re: c25k. I "think" its working? I guess I've never been much of a runner, but so far I am tolerating it! I'm not going to lie...I don't LOVE it, but it is very motivating. I think you're only supposed to run every other day...but sometimes if I don't have a class at the gym, I'd just as soon run and add more miles to my nikeplus.com challenge.

I usually do a 60 min. Body Pump class at least 2-3 times per week (to get my strength training in). I think this has made a world of difference in toning...and how my clothes fit. And then I do cardio or running on my days off of that. Plus I try to take one "rest" day.
