About Me:
I'm nearly forty, getting married to the most amazing person in the world on September 21st 2008, and I have a 12 year old stepson who I adore! I've been with Weight Watchers since 2002 and lost 35 pounds on the Flex plan my first year. I'd been "half-assing it" since those first 35 pounds and got a huge slap of reality in January of 2008 when I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hypertension. I went on the Core plan and became an exercise-aholic. I've lost 23 more pounds since then and am well on my way to goal! The journey is rough, but I'm loving it!
Plan of Choice:
Weight Watchers
Workout Philiosophy:
I'm a gym rat ALL the way, I'm a Running Fanatic, I only exercise because I have to

Waaaaaay off track....

I am so off track that not only did I get run over by the train, but I also fell off the wagon, got run over by it, then it dumped a load of turnips on my head! I have not exercised since last THURSDAY! As of the scale this morning, I am up 11 pounds from my lowest weight! I actually made the walk of shame TWICE yesterday and bought COOKIES!! My body was craving crunch and sugar so bad that I could not help myself!! I had a Coke on Monday, of all things! I am having HUGE food issues! Gigantic,… Continue

We Have A Dress and Other Saucy Happenings!

Yes, it's true!! We went to try on some things to get ideas and we found the perfect wedding gown! It is so totally not what I ever expected I would choose, but it SO WORKS! It's fitted through the waist and laces up the back so that the back fat issue can be worked with. It's got alot of sparklies with NO meringue! And to top it all off, it was ON SALE! Yep, I paid only $390 for my wedding gown! I'm so excited!! *insert happy snoopy dance here* In other news, I went to the doctor on Friday… Continue

Wedding Dress Shopping

Before I get too far into this, let me clarify that as far as we've been planning, my mother is making my wedding dress. This isn't a problem, but recently I came to realize that I need to go try on dresses to see what styles actually look best on me. I've now been told by my father that my mom is open to purchasing a dress if we can find one that works that I really like. Whew! Good, good :) So yesterday I go shopping with one of my friends to try on dresses to see if there's anything that wor… Continue

What's Working, What's Not Working

I'm beginning to really see what my body likes and what it doesn't like, what makes the scale go up or down, and what simply makes me feel good versus what makes me feel !good. Everything seems to be sluggish if I don't do any cardio and I don't eat enough vegetables. I feel like I need a nap in the afternoon, for example. My body feels droopy (especially my arms!) and flabby. My mood tends to darken as does my attitude and things frustrate me easier. If I get my heartrate up (I did D3W3 of th… Continue

Update

I didn't go to my normal meeting on Saturday. I usually weigh in with my mother at a meeting we've been going to since 2002, but since she was out of town I decided to stick to the one by my house instead. Not only was TOM visiting with a vengeance, but I had local errands I needed to run as well. Anyway, the meeting was dead, to say the least. Usually there are around 70 people at that particular meeting and at first, when I drove up, I didn't even think the place was /open/. I saw folks movin… Continue

Thanks so much for the comment. I needed that. I love this blogging thing. I started because I thought it would have me stay honest with myself but it has done that and also everyone here has given me such motivation. Congrats on all the weight you have lost. You look fabulous.

About your stepson, I don't know what advice to give ya :) It sounds like he is a procrastinator like myself! Also, a lot of kids change their studying habits throughout middle school so I don't know if I'd worry about it too much. Maybe offer rewards if he has all of his homework done by dinner time?

Thanks for the comments! I had no idea that Mayo came could be oil-based, that's awesome!

Also, I love 7th graders. There are some days of course that I want to tie them to chairs, but most of the time I think they're great.

Yum. Avacados. I am pretty lucky as I share my garden with my dad. It is located at my parents house and he does most of the work. I love eating stuff out of the garden. Today, I was wishing for a tomato so I could make a BLT.

I love my nail polish too! My husband got me a bag of all kinds of stuff from Ulta along with a gift card (he had my bf go with him to pick out stuff that I'd like) and luckily she knows I love blue!!

Hi there....she has me on HCTZ, Hydrochlorothiazide - also a diuretic. Does the same for me so far as the water weight is concerned! But it's not working on the HBP lately which concerns me. I used to take Lisinopril daily also but we dropped that when the numbers started to be consistently lower...she thinks I may need to do a combo pill if it doesn't go down and stay down which is kind of depressing to me...we'll see how it goes, in the meantime I am looking for some natural ways to get it down...lower salt intake is where I am starting...which will be tough...there are certain things I feel just need salt to taste good. Wish me luck, gonna need it!

Thank you very much for your support and advise. And I'm about 5'7 so I guess weighing a hundred pounds would look sickly on me. Lol And amazingly I like to run. I like to challenge myself but it seems my body doesn't have the endurance stamina my brain does. I will have to learn to pace myself. Anyways, again thanks a lot I really appreciate it.

Alaska is great! I love it here, have lived here for 15 years now and still love it. I live south of Anchorage, about five hours from Valdez by road and a few hours by boat on the other side of the mountains. You should visit, it is fantastic. Our RenFair is coming up this weekend and next-I think. Glad the shower worked for you, it is amazing what a hot shower can do when you have sinus issues.
