Can't believe how well I've been doing with my food. I've reached my goal of eating under 1550 calories a day [watching carbs and fat] for all but 2 days in the past two weeks. Yeah! But I have not lost a thing. In fact I am gaining like crazy this week! I have been feeling extremely gassy and, *umm* constipated for about the same amount of time (at the same time) so maybe that has something to do with it? I've upped my fruits, veggies and fiber one's for the latter but the gas has me uncomforta… Continue

So much for the cheap fish

The hardest part for me in trying to lose weight is the amount of money it takes to buy food for the family that we normally wouldn't buy before. Wheat bread costs more, buying fresh produce isn't cheap (compared to the packaged snacks we used to covet), add on different types of 25% of our food (the kids get the puke-look on their face everytime they look at my cereal) and so on. This was my first trip to Biloxi, my first trip to a "real" casino and, of course, my first trip to casino buffets. All in all I can say what we all often say, "It could've been worse." I totally bypassed the salads and fruit, even though they looked spectacular. Instead I dove into crab legs, sushi, oysters and shrimp (mostly cocktail but did have a few fried). So far so good

This is my first week of *really* keeping track of my food. I haven't made the greatest choices but I am holding myself accountable and that makes a world of difference, you know? Instead of getting mad at myself to the point of throwing in the towel, I've been good at making sure the rest of my meals and snacks were better for me. Stressed is Desserts spelled backwards

That about sums it up for this afternoon. I need better stress management skills than the pie that eased my mind today. I glanced at the grapes and the light yogurt in the same cooler as the pie but the little voice in my head said, "Nah." Bad little voice. Bad. Update

I did weigh myself on Wednesday - 199.2. Not too bad.. that’s about 1.5 lbs more than I was a month ago but it’s still 12 lbs less than when I started last year and it’s still below 200 (barely). Yes! My goals, kept on SparkPeople, are to keep between 1200-1500 calories and to [...]

Avoiding the issue

My boyfriend lost 3 lbs this week. Me, I don’t know if I lost anything because I’ve been afraid of the scale for over a month. By not looking I can still think, “Maybe I lost weight, maybe I didn’t.” I guess it keeps away the disappointing feeling of not losing anything. [...]
