Profile Information

About Me:
I live and work in Washington, DC. Before that I was living north of Cincinnati. I am originally from upstate NY (outside of Ithaca).

I have been with my husband for over 11 years, and we have a 4 year old german shepherd. We just recently bought a house and we are going to start trying to conceive in the new year. I am very excited about the next stage in my life, and I want to lose some weight so I will feel confident about it too!

My goals and plans

I attend WW meetings and believe in Intuitive Eating.

I am counting calories. I track them on dailyplate.com. At my current weight, I need to eat 1800-2000 calories a day to lose 2 lbs a week,. I still attend my weekly WW meeting and WI, and calculate points every couple of days.

WEEKLY WEIGH-INs
Week 1 Sept 30th (- 2 )
Week 2 Oct 7th (-1.4)
Week 3 Oct 14th (no WI)
Week 4 Oct 21st (-0.6)
Week 5 Oct 28th (+1.4) TOM?!
Week 6 Nov 4th (+1.8) closed on new house... feeling points crazy, so going to count calories
Week 7 Nov 11th No WI-Veteran's Day
Week 8 Nov 18th (-2.8) Calorie counting is definitely working!
Week 9 Nov 25th (?) played hooky with a colleague...
Week 10 Dec 2nd (+1.0) hello?! thanksgiving and the move... went for a brisk walk though!

It is that time of the year

Today is day one of my work's month-long holiday food sampler. Everyday two people are bringing in treats. Today it is cheese and crackers, choco chip pumpkin bread, and a giant David's choco chip cookie?! yikes... I am going to have a bite or two of things, but try to not overindulge... I have such a sweet tooth--drives me bonkers. makes me feel so addicted--I obsess about sweets (that giant choco cookie is SO good), and can overeat them until I am physically sick... ick... luckily I work with… Continue

Happy Tuesday everyone

Things are starting to get back to normal at home and work--it has been a crazy few weeks?! We still have lots of unpacking to do and some painting, but the main rooms are cozy. In the midst of all this moving, I had to do a presentation for work--couldn't find anything to wear (everything is still in garbage bags!) so it was a good excuse to buy a new outift. I have still been calorie counting (only missed a couple of weekend days), and going to my WW meetings (missed the meeting today though.… Continue

Getting all settled...

We almost have the kitchen stuff all unpacked, and tomorrow we are going to work on unpacking all our clothes. We met with the dogwalker this morning, and any minute the Fios guy is coming! We love the house and neighborhood... everything is so new though--trying to tolerate it, and let time make things comfier... I have not been able to track my calories (no internet), but I am keeping track in my head... I am burning lots of calories, and not really snacking too much, so my eating is okay.… Continue

I think it might be the fresh taste I am craving since lately, all I have been able to eat are white dry foods.

I was trying the food pyramid thing til the food issues cropped up. It seems they have mostly left me, so I am trying more. But the last two days I have been craving salad?! Crazy!! I'm mainly focusing on dairy and protein bc doc said that is most important.

We may end up skipping it all together! We are on race/marriage right now & our final is next week! So I dont think we will get to go over all those things :( Im a psych major though so Ive taken a far share of Soc stuff..I actually used it as my area of concentration.

Ya I bet it is cheaper.. I use PB on everything though so sometimes I splurge. I actually tried the PB2 recently which is peanut butter without the fat & is only 55 cals for 2 tbsps...but its like 5 bucks a jar. PB is high in cals because of the fat but it fills you up & gives you protein, sometimes I cut back on the portion & it saves me calories. The flavored PBs have less calories than some reduced fat ones too, its crazy! Ive been looking to try the sandwich thins are they good? Where did you get them? And that sandwich sounds a-mazing!

Mystery solved! I am listening to her latest podcast and she talks about maintenance. She takes the BMR and multiplies it by daily activity level. Level 1 would be a secretary, level 2 like a salesperson, level 3 is a trainer (not strenuous but active), level 4 is a construction worker. So you multiply your BMR by 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 or 1.4 depending on what your level is.

So for me to maintain I am going to be eating about 1700 calories a day. If you workout and have burned say 400 calories you can tack that on top to maintain making it 2300 calories. Not bad!

Maybe I should call her on Sunday and find out :OP Hahahahaha. 1400 sounds low for maintenance. I am so confused. I know what you're talking about though about 1200 on non-workout days and 1600 when you exercise and I think that is to lose weight. I want to eat like 3000 calories a day...that is doable :OP

I still have about 10lbs I would like to lose (maybe 15 - who knows!). In the book she definitely says stick to your BMR which for me is 1500 but that is at this weight. What if I lose 10 lbs (ha!). Then I should adjust no?

I think I'll have a good day. Not that there AREN'T temptations, but I'm feeling pretty "strong" today! I was on the scale this morning and saw that pesky 1/2 lb gain from Thanksgiving was gone! I want to have LOSS this week!
