Profile

About Me:
I've never been skinny, but I've always maintained at a weight I was (relatively) happy with. That is, until this summer. With a steady diet of ennui and macaroni and cheese, I gained close to 50 pounds.
I've lost some of it alone, but I'm ready to lose that last 20 pounds, and I figure-why stop there? I know I've got what it takes to lose, and this time I'm going to take it all the way.

My goals

July 15th: Hit my 10% weight of 170 lbs (on the weight watchers scale). [I might hit that this week! Hooray!!]

August 19th: Get into the 150s (and size 8s)! My birthday is always a great time of the year. This year, hopefully it will be a little more great. I'm going to have to work pretty hard to get here, but if I keep losing at this rate, I should juuust squeak by!

Ultimate goal: Get into the healthy range of BMI for my height, 135 lbs or less! My temporary date for this will be April 2009. A year to lose 50 + lbs. 50 weeks, 50 lbs. This goal doesn’t seem insurmountable, and depending on whether I meet my August goal, I may move it forward to New Years.
Yes, this goal is a big deal. Yes, it scares me more than a little. However, I have a bad tendency of losing 20 or 25 lbs and then stopping…with an ultimate goal, I will keep going and going!
Plan of Choice:
Weight Watchers

Top-heavy

I’m a top-heavy type girl. It’s somewhat obvious in the photos, but I typically dress to hide my assets rather than emphasize them. While I’m heavy, I tend to balance out: my hips are bigger, my waist and shoulders are bigger. Even at my biggest size, my hips were only a couple of inches larger than my bust line, and my waist was significantly below both (~5 inches). Now that some of those numbers are getting smaller, I get more and more self-conscious about the one that isn’t going to shrink a… Continue

Non-numeric achievements: feeling better, getting stronger

In my martial art, I have had several episodes where I needed to stop class because I was feeling dizzy, nauseous, and faint. The first time it happened, it inspired me to join Weight Watchers. The second time it happened, I was so sick that I definitely should not have driven myself home from the gym (nodding off at the wheel, complete lack of focus, etc.) I take preventative measures now to keep from getting that bad again, but I hoped that getting in shape would help me stop doing it. I still… Continue

Fifteen pounds and goals

Still chugging along on the diet. It’s frustrating sometimes, because I feel like I’m losing soooo slowly, but it’s been three months and I’m still happy on the diet train, so I can handle losing slowly! I reached 15 pounds at the last meeting, which makes my average loss about 5 pounds a month. 5 pounds a month. That’s 15 pounds every three months. I should have lost 30 pounds by the end of September. That’s SIXTY pounds a year. If I stuck with the diet and didn’t plateau or anything, I would w… Continue

It's getting better all the time

I’ve been feeling considerably better about myself the past few days. Although on Monday I was really down, on Tuesday, I wore a pair of pants that look great on me (and I haven’t fit into for months). I also went to martial arts and didn’t get sick. I guess I am doing better, it just seems incredibly slow. Last week at martial arts, I got incredibly dizzy and felt sick after class. I still chalk this up to being incredibly out of shape, and it’s so frustrating! This week, I felt hot and sweaty,… Continue

Dispirited

I haven’t been on here for a while, partially because I’ve been doing…not so good. The gung-ho sense of victory when I first starting the diet has faded, partially because I’m losing so slowly, and partially because one slip leads to more. The last major diet I was on resulted in relatively quick weight loss, this one-not so much. Although I’ve been consistently losing, despite my many transgressions these past few weeks, it’s difficult for me to get excited about a pound a week. It’s true that… Continue
