About Me:
I've been steadily gaining three to five pounds a year for about 20 years. I used to be thin, now I'm obese according to the BMI. I really want more energy and to have more quality in my life. It's a great time to lose now that my three kids are grown. I can devote more time to exercise. I've tried almost every diet imaginable, and honestly my diet isn't THAT bad. The problem is I need to be more active. I thought maybe blogging would help me analyze where I go wrong.

Plan of Choice:
Low Carb, High Fiber, Weight Watchers
Website/Blog:
http://www.slimmering.blogspot.com
Workout Philiosophy:
I stay active doing everyday activities

Finally-- a minor success!

So this was week three at WW, and I finally lost something. 3.6 pounds! I couldn't be happier. I've worked hard at this, but it hasn't been as challenging as I thought it would be. As long as I stock up on the right foods, I'm almost never hungry. We had the in-laws over on Memorial Day. I served a relatively healthy meal. Hubby bbq'ed steaks, but since I'm a vegetarian I had him throw a veggie kielbasa on the grill and it was yummy. I also made a low-fat ratatouille from the WW cookbook. My mot… Continue

Falling off the wagon. . .

I started WW about nine days ago and followed it perfectly. I was SOOOO damned good. Before I ate anything I checked to see if it was on Core. I wouldn't eat it if it wasn't Core. I exercised and everything. Then -- last Wednesday when I went for my first weigh-in, I was actually UP 2/10 of a pound. I couldn't frickin believe it!! I was sure I had lost weight because I was so good. That was my birthday too. So I almost lost it. I went home and ate tortialla chips with cheese sauce. Then my husba… Continue

What Relatives Will Do if You Let Them

My birthday is coming up in two days. A little bit ago my dear sweet mother-in-law invited us over for dinner this weekend to celebrate my birthday. I love her, I really do. She is the best cook in the world, but she slathers everything in thick buttery, cheesy sauces. She herself is thin. "I'm sorry, " I said. "I'm dieting and I don't want you to go to all that work.. . .I really won't be eating much of whatever you fix." "Oh honey," she says, "You don't need to lose weight." "Yeah, well, I'm… Continue

Walking at work

I got the little Weight Watchers pedometer so I can keep track of activity points. I've been wearing it to work and I'm surprised how much I walk there. I logged in four miles today. Normally I do a lot of standing, but I've been parking further away from the door and using every opportunity I can to walk around more rather than just standing. I've been walking on my breaks and during lunch too. Normally my feet get so tired from standing, but the walking really makes a difference because I actu… Continue

Day 2 of WW

I didn't start out so well with the first day. I didn't blow it, but got sick with the flu. Unfortunately right after the meeting I went grocery shopping. There was nothing in the store I could have since I'm doing CORE--there's a deli there, but everything had either white rice or bread on it, in it or around it--Normally I eat nuts for a snack, but that's not on the Core diet, so I got a bag of carrots and started munching on them throughout the store. I was feeling pretty good about this-- th… Continue

Thanks for commenting to my blog. It is crazy how all our bodies do so differently. Some of my friends who are doing ww with me are losing more and some lossing less. Either way if we are lossing we are all doing great. :) Hope you have a great OP day.

Hi Kelly! I like the way you can switch between the two programs-- Core or Flex. I think overall Core will work best with my lifestyle, since I'm already a vegetarian. But in July I'm going to a couple conventions and will be eating out a lot. I may do better watching points on the road eating in restaurants. We'll see.

Yeah-- I've heard age can be a problem-- that has be worried too. It's gotten to the point where my ankles swell when I walk anywhere and my back hurts all the time. So cut yourself some slack. It took a long time to put the weight on, it will take time to take it off. Might be better to focus on health rather than the weight. Even if it's half a pound a week that will add up in a year.

I literally spent a year devoted to WW and lost 65 lbs. I looked hot and sexy but allowed myself to be so cocky, i didn't realize I was falling after seven years. i'm having a tough time now and it doesn't get any easier with age.
