About Me:
I am a mother of three children - ages 3, 5, and 7. I have a husband, one cat and a full time job. Life is busy but I like it that way most of the time.

I have a long history of weight loss stories I could share from Weight Watchers several times, grapefruit diets, soup diets...etc. After having three kids, I packed on the weight and lost myself. I wasn't really ready to lose the weight until I heard a motivational speech by Michael Pinball Clemons. I realized through his speech that I was afraid to lose weight. Sounds crazy but I realized I was afraid of the commitment it takes. What if I failed? Was I ready for it? I set a date and in September 2007 I started on my way. So far I have lost 30 lbs. It has been a struggle this go around. My weight loss has been slow...like turtle slow compared to the other times I have been on the WW program. That's okay though. I am trying this time to make this my last time losing weight.

I found Roni which has really helped this last journey of mine. So here I am following her around...

I am excited to be here.

Tanya

It's been a long three months...

I was just looking at my weight chart and realized that the last time I weighed this little was back in September. I was at a weight loss of 37 lbs just after the Labour Day weekend and since then, it has been up and down all the way until this weekend's WI. It has taught me how valuable it is to stick with this weight loss thing. You cannot give up. I have given up in the past and just gained all my weight back. I can't do this; not this time. While I almost wanted to throw in the towel so man… Continue

Thank goodness a loss was present...

I was so happy to step on the scale this morning and see a 1.6lb loss. It has been hard for me to move foward. After losing 30lbs in the summer, I have plateaued for many different reasons. I am now about 2.5lbs away from losing a total of 40lbs and happy for that. I am going to work towards losing 40 lbs by Christmas. I wanted to lose 50 by Christmas but I think at this point the way the weight is coming off (slowly) it is more realistic. I am hoping that this is the start of a more consistent… Continue

My Body Says One Thing While the Scale Says Another...

Hey there - so I WI today and I gained another .6lbs. I am not happy with yet another gain but understand that I faced some very difficult challenges food wise this week and did not too badly considering. I think in some ways gaining again this week was to make me feel angry and ready to kick some butt OP and with my exercise. Funny enough though, the scale is going up while my pants are getting looser and my body continues to get smaller. I had a handful of people tell me just yesterday how ama… Continue

My WI sucked — up 3.4 pounds, which was all I lost last week, plus.

Here's to a more successful week of exercise and tracking every bite. Can't wait for the next WW meeting, because we'll be getting the new program materials next week. I'm excited to see the changes that are in store.

Tanya, your comments about being pregnant and people talkng about your size are great! I plan to get pregnant someday soon, and worry about being overweight and pregnant--I am going to use your comment, "nah, I am just fat" and keep my sense of humor. Already I joke that I eat for triplets (in response to my baby doctor saying I only need to eat an extra 300 calories when pregnant). Love the new profile pic!

Hi Tanya. Thanks for all of the info on trying CORE. I'm nervous, but I think that I just may do it this week. I have been unable to follow flex for months now, and I think that it is because my workouts are sooooo intense (about 1 to 1 1/2 hours of intense cardio with ten pound weights every day) that there just is no way 25 points are going to satisfy me.

I'm doomed before I get started.

Yeah it is crazy if you think about it! As a repeat offender of "failing" on the diet front you think you need to eat less to lose but it's not true. You need to eat to keep your metabolism working and the healthier and more natural those foods are the more efficient your metabolism will be. You'll also feel less hungry and more satisfied because core foods take longer to metabolize and are slower to turn over.

That's exactly why I love core - I am always hungry!!!!!!!!! Be it flex or core, I am always hungry. I have learned if you're hungry (really hungry not just bored or what not) you need to eat. I agree with you 100%, flex helped me too - but I don't think it's completely realistic to think you will be counting your points as diligently as you do now when you are on maintenance. You are close to goal so if you can handle core it will be great for when you are on maintenance. My plan is to do as much core as possible and then switch to flex if I see the scale going up or my eating not on par.

Good luck this weekend!!!!! I am glad I answered your questions. Can't wait to see the results!!!!

Hi Tanya! I am proud thank you very much for your sweet comment :O)

I didn't know what else to say besides that I love core. I totally hear you, I was very nervous the first time I tried it. I think my first week I lost 5 lbs or something ridiculous like that because I had flushed out all the crud from my system, all the processed junk I was abusing and all the bloat that was associated with it.

This is my 5th or 6th time (I lost count) joining weight watchers and I had always done flex because I liked to squeeze my "junk" in. This time around it's more about health and wellness and since I am eating healthier core was a no brainer for me. In fact just a couple of weeks ago, I was extremely bloated due to dental surgery, medication, TOM etc. I did core the week after to flush myself out again and lost over 7 lbs!!!! ::faint::

I didn't start out on core and I actually didn't try it till about a year after I re-committed to weight watchers. I would do core every week if I could but I do find it hard when I have more than one social engagement where I am not in control of what food will be available - not talking restaurants, I'm talking parties, showers etc. I find myself using all of my flex points and although it's manageable I find it difficult for the rest of the week.

It totally makes sense that you can just eat something core instead of flex!!! When I doing the program 100% and I have all my flex points, I usually end up using them on like a slice of toast with my eggs, or a bun with my chicken burger...stuff like that.

I don't know what you mean by how I did on program? Do you mean things I eat? I am more than happy to help so if you have any more questions feel free! Good luck!!!
