About Me:
I'm a former outside sales rep turned full-time grad student. I finish school in November with the hopes of finding a great job that will challenge me. I have gained around 30 pounds in the last year (after losing 80) and have recently got back on track. I'm 5'4 and weigh around 185. My short-term goal is 170 (that's when most of my clothes fit) and ideally, I think 150 is where I would like to be.

I love to workout. Spinning has definitely been my drug of choice. I'm lucky to have a gym that offers it almost twice a day so I go around 5x a week. I also spend 2 days a week lifting weights.

In terms of a diet -- I eat healthy but do not follow a mass-market plan. I need to start counting calories to keep myself more in check. I currently eat as healthy as possible and keep a mental tally of what I *think* I have eaten. I am also looking for more healthy and quick dinner ideas to keep me motivated as I love to cook.

I live in Rochester, NY with my boyfriend and dog who are both very supportive. In my spare time, when I am not reading some dense textbook, I love to knit and read sappy fiction books.
Plan of Choice:
Low Fat, High Fiber
Workout Philiosophy:
I'm a gym rat ALL the way, I love lifting weights

Shameless self-promotion

While I am at it.... I am taking a survey design course this summer. I used this opportunity to research some thoughts on non-profits as my boyfriend and I would like to start a non-profit next year. If you have 10 minutes, click the link below, and take my survey. It's completely anonymous, set up through Survey Monkey, and could help us make a better decision about starting our business. I don't think there is one healthy thing in Egg Foo Young....

This is exactly what I thought as a picked apart my dinner of Egg Foo Young bathing in its mystery sauce. I could have ordered steamed veggies, WW rice, and ate half of an egg roll but, I didn't. I haven't slept well for a few nights and have had some school craziness. I think those factors have made me very lazy today (I spent all afternoon catching up on my DVR and avoiding doing anything necessary). Chinese food was the next logical step. Also, I think as I get older, I am more in tune with… Continue

cutting myself some slack

I was very successful losing 80 pounds in about 2 years. I gained 30 of it back due to a sports injury/work schedule last year. I have been holding onto that 30 (now about 20) for a year. It was sooooo hard getting back into a weight loss routine. I think my recent success over the last 2 months has been because I have cut myself some slack. I think the reason I have failed so many times is due to my "all or nothing" attitude. If I couldn't have an intense, hour long workout at the gym, why go?… Continue

Hi! Just saying hello. I hope you are doing well. How is wedding planning and you must be able to see a light at the end of the tunnel with school!

Hi! Congrats on getting engaged. Now you have something to help motivate you. My best friend just got enaged, and she is getting married on the same day as you! She is a stressbucket right now too. I think once you get the location and the officiant you are set for a little while. Finishing up school and being on the job market is an exciting time, but very stressful. Things seem so up in the air!! I think the cover letter is really hard to write--seems to have a ton of importance--but in reality not sure if it is all that important. The resume and who you know seems more important. Good luck with everything!

Yeh, the job searching is SO stressful... leading up to it, actually searching, and then making the transition. I do think it will be a little easier for you with the MBA--much more targetted and you get to skip some of the riff raff. Your vacation sounds busy, but fun!! Have a great time studying.

Hi! Thanks for checking in. The doc appt did go well, but we have so much going on in our lives right now that we are going to wait a few months to try to conceive. We are househunting and my husband just changed jobs, so right now adding getting pregnant puts us kind of over the edge! Going to grad school keeps you out of the "real" world, but once you get out, everything seems to snowball, and all these life stages happen at once... I am sure you can relate!

I am almost done knitting that wrap. How was the end of classes? Are you finding some time to relax before things start up again?

I don't have a specific recipe per se for the stuffed zuchinni. I slice it in half, bake it at 350, scoop out the middle and fill it with any number of stuffing concoctions that I may have on hand. Sometimes I make just a base stuffing and mix that with the zuchinni I scooped out, sprinkle with cheese and rebake to melt the cheese. I think a mushroom stuffing would be real good too. Let me know if you try a good one.

p.s.--thanks for the dailyplate tip--I just went to it and practiced entering my food--I like it! Right now I just write down my food on a food journal I made.

Have a great week too!

I love making booties--they are so cute--but like you, I can only make so many! You sound busy! Summer courses can be really intense.

Life is a little crazy over here too--lots of transitions--my husband is starting a new job on Monday, we are househunting and I think we found a house, and we are going to a baby doctor on Thursday just to chat... amazingly I have still been managing to grocery shop, plan meals, and cook--I think it is because my job is not very stressful! I was not able to do all that as a grad student or a professor?!

I have been knitting a wrap and that has been calming... the pattern is just the knit stitch (my favorite stitch!), so I find it easy. I had to take break from all those crocheted granny squares!

Hang in there... once you are done with school you will be able to juggle everything a little easier...
