Sweet Salty and Crunchy

I am all about the texture girls. Last night while watching a little tv I saw a commercial that I must share. They took a PB and Chocolate Chip rice cake, topped it with a small amount of fluff and a few sliced bananas. I had to restrain myself from running to the store. The hubby is actually there now and has it on the list. (yes, my DH shops and cooks) I will let you know how it is when I try it, but it looks too darn good not to share - like perfect PMS food! It also looks like something my g… Continue

106 degrees and melting

It was a scorching 106 today here in Las Vegas and I thought I might melt. Usually we ease into the dog days of summer - not this year. If anything, this is even more motivation to lose the weight. One thing worse that being hot is carrying around extra pounds in the heat. I have a closet full of last years clothes from when I had dropped 30lbs just staring at me - nothing fits and i need it to. I haven't blogged in a week out of guilt. Yes- i am an avoider - I didnt want to admit that I had tur… Continue

Damn Firefighters

So help me God it will be a miracle if I do not eat my way through a batch of brownies this week. THe guys at my station have been on a baking binge. I swear every day there has been something in the kitchen that has overtaken the airducts. I have resisted the urge to sample the treats because that could lead to an embarrassing scene of me eating everything in sight. I am on my second NF Latte for the day because it curbs my sweet craving. Seriousley - when are these darling boys going to learn… Continue

Cookies and Starbucks......My Hubby Rocks!

A little history.... Every year since my 6 year old was born i have gotten bfast in bed on MD. As she has grown, the bfast has become more elaborate because she REALLY wants to spoil me (thanks to good training from DH). If it was up to her, I would have a 10 course bfast with all the trimmings! DH woke up early this morning and got bfast for all 3 of his girls- a fine meal of starbucks and little cookies. You see, this was actually a good choice- instead of syrup smothered waffles, we shared 4… Continue

The bad side of working at a fire station

My office is located at a fire station and complaining about that is like complaining about being too thin. But here is the delimma. If there is one thing I can tall you about FFs is that they are the best damn cooks. I am sitting here as they prepare lunch and I can smell something that is fabulously laden with garlic. Earlier this morning one of the guys here baked cookies and that just about put me over the edge. I saw the makings of a Mexican fiesta for dinner on the counter this morning. I… Continue

Like an elephant on a tightrope.....
Fast forward to today... I am at my physical Therapy for shoulder surgery and my trainer tells me that she wants to show me some pilates move to strengthen my upper body. First there was the lump in my throat, the cold sweats, the numbness in my toes. There was no way that this body was doing pilates. The darling size 2 girl must have read the horror in my eyes, or simply saw my blood pressure skyrocketing, becuase she assured me that this would not be bad. HA! not bad - had she ever not realized that BIG girls are not designed for certain things. as she drug me to the machine (oh crap, not only Pilates, but a torture device as well) I told myself that I would survive this and not pass out. She showed me a few moves that didn't seem so bad. I reluctlantl got on and held on for dear life. Before I knew it I was not only doing it, but getting complimented on my "form". I was actually enjoying myself. For a brief 10 minutes I was no longer the elephant on the tightrope, I was the cute girl with good form doing pilates, or at least I felt that way.

I can't wait to hop back on on Monday!
