Profile Information

About Me:
I'm originally from Wisconsin, moved to England six years ago. I have a dwarf hamster called George and a fiancee called Jim, who is doing WW with me. We've recently moved from London to the northwest of England, and I'm currently looking for a job. I have Polycystic Ovarian Sydrome (PCOS), suspected for a long time and confirmed a few years ago. I'm hoping that losing weight will improve my very irregular cycles and that I'll get pregnant within the next two years. We're not really trying to conceive, but not trying NOT to, if you see what I mean.
Plan of Choice:
Weight Watchers
Workout Philiosophy:
I loath exercice, I only exercise because I have to

11th Weigh In - going nowhere

Stayed the same this week, but that's a victory as far as I'm concerned! Jim gained 1.5 pounds, but that's better than he was expecting. Friday night we went out to a French restaurant for Jim's birthday and threw caution to the wind. I barely drank because I was driving, but I did have a full three courses and there was some type of cheese in every single one. Saturday we had visitors, but didn't do too badly. We seem to have completely given up tracking this past week, but have vowed to get ba… Continue

10th Weigh In

Not a great week, but not terrible either. I gained half a pound at last Thursday's weigh in, which is okay considering we had visitors for four days. This week is not shaping up to be great either--Jim's birthday was Friday, then we had visitors on Saturday. Friday we let it all go ridiculously wrong in a French restaurant. I ate far too much cheese, but man was it good! I think I may have had about triple the points I'm supposed to in one day. I've decided I think the meditation group is not… Continue

9th Weigh In - Woo hoo! 15 pounds GONE!

Unbelieveably, I lost five pounds this week to make it 15 in total. Last week I'd gained 2.5, so managed to lose that plus an additional 2.5. I think I was too worried to eat much on Wednesday and Thursday before weigh in, because my little brother back in the U.S. fell off a ladder painting the second storey of his house. He is in hospital at the moment, doing better every day, but still not sure his wedding will be happening as scheduled (was supposed to be 1st weekend in August). These are t… Continue

This week in random thoughts

I love Sainsbury's for being smart enough to realise that the people who buy the mini-pots of houmous are also the same people who would like the reduced fat versions. Now if Tesco would just figure that out. . . I managed to meditate for 10 minutes today, first time doing it myself and not with the group. It was weird doing it in my own flat though, I could hear the hamster scrabbling about, the dishwasher going, the laptop humming, and all sorts of other odd sounds. We started a Pilates clas… Continue

Butternut Squash Risotto - My favourite recipe!

With a bit of experimentation, I've gotten my risotto recipe down to 6 WW points for a really generous serving. Thought I'd share! Butternut Squash Risotto (for 2) Ingredients: 1 whole butternut squash, peeled, deseeded and cut into 1 inch chunks (0 points) 10 sprays low fat cooking spray (0 points) 2 TBSP dried mixed herbs (0 points) 1 TBSP (15g) butter (3.5 points) 1 large onion, chopped (0 points) 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped (0 points) 150 grams risotto rice (7.5 points) 1… Continue

Hi there, I was wondering if you can tell me what spool knitting is? I do crochet, but that's one you have to pay attention to pretty much. Are there special tools I will need? Thanks!!

Hi Sarah, welcome to the group. I'm doing WW and am in the 100 plus club also. I think you have a good attitude and you are doing well. I think I'm a whole truckload of stones haha. I was watching this show called "You are what you eat" and the woman kept using stones so I learned what it meant. That show's kinda weird, but people had good outcomes so I guess it's ok. Good Luck this week!
